To the people complaining about their English or how they spoke in Korean during this, when speaking in a different language it can be really hard to find words to complete what you're trying to say. It's way easier to just speak in your own language. I am an English speaker currently learning Japanese and I know the words but it is hard trying to create sentences without sounding weird or stupid.

Exactly especially considering that English has so many different words that mean the same thing. its not like our American artist are going out of there way to learn the different languages of other countries. I myself am currently learning Korean and it is hard trying to form the sentences correctly and worrying about using the formal and informal pronunciations.

It was just starting to sign artists..like Drake Nicki and Tyga...I think Lil Wayne and Birdman both took a huge risk with signing Jay Sean also at the time. I honestly think they could have capitalized by bringing more established international artists on.

Having an international band who cites heavy American influences, uses white girls in music videos, uses English on their social media, and wears clothing with English on it learn a language that is spoken by over 360 million people including the most powerful nations in the world vs. everyone else learning a language that is spoken by 77 million people almost solely in Korea. is this a real question?
@AZULAPRO9 жыл бұрын
ZukosPrettyPrincess If you understand how hard is to learn a language maybe you would understand the question better. There is nothing wrong with meeting other people halfway with learning languages, it only makes you a more well rounded person and opens doors. Its embarrassing that America feels like they don't need to learn another language. Just because you are too lazy does not mean it isn't worthwhile. Get out of your American English arrogance. The world does not revolve America or English.
@larubiamarina53209 жыл бұрын
AZULAPRO I speak fluent Spanish, because I understand how important the spanish language is to the world economy, and am trying to learn Korean. @ubiquitous_aquarius9 жыл бұрын
Excuse me, are you aware that English is the universal language? Over 58 countries have English as their official language. That's not me being "racist" or "American-biased"...it's a fact. Should English speakers learn a second language, especially with Spanish and Chinese rising in economic importance? Yes. They absolutely should. But acting like it's COMPLETELY far-fetched that international celebrities from a country with a relatively small population (and a heavy importance on learning English in school) would speak a language that is easily accessible for almost all of their fans, is ridiculous. It's not like people are complaining that they don't speak Cherokee. 360 million people are native English speakers. No one expects them to be perfect, but it makes total sense for them to learn the language.
@belgusz73949 жыл бұрын
ZukosPrettyPrincess 360 million native english speakers is nothing, considering that there are over 7 billion people on this planet; that comes down to less than 5 percent of the world population.
@ubiquitous_aquarius9 жыл бұрын
Are you stupid? Or are you really going to pretend like the 360 million people who speak English- AS A FIRST LANGUAGE, in the most powerful and influential countries in the world don't matter? Almost all international business transactions are done in ENGLISH, and the United Nations uses English, Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French, and Russian (ALL countries that use these languages place a heavy emphasis on learning ENGLISH). Most of the world's population live in impoverished equatorial Africa (2.4 BILLION PEOPLE)! They are NOT anyone's target market,especially not Kpop singers, and thus cannot be used to make a point about the validity of any language since 2000 NATIVE LANGUAGES are spoken in Africa. The most common language in the world is Mandarin, (China has a population of over 1 BILLION, and ALL of their students learn English. My boyfriend is from Shanghai, he knows how super important it is). SO if we want to do REAL math here, INCLUDING the countries (basically ALL of them) that have people learn English as a second language, you have 1.5 BILLION ENGLISH SPEAKERS. Only 40% of the world's population has internet access (3.2 billion roughly) and GUESS what? Almost all 1.5 billion of them are connected to the internet! SO, to wrap it up nicely, about HALF of the modernized world makes an effort to speak English. ABOUT HALF of the international Kpop market would benefit from them learning English.
@belgusz73949 жыл бұрын
ZukosPrettyPrincess I didnt even bother to read your long rant past the first 3 sentences. The most powerful and influential countries in the world? those would be china, russia and america. The only one that speaks english is america of those three. P.S. Are you white? the arrogance in your post is astonishing.

I am kind of hoping that GD does not become a big hit here in America. Sounds weird--but here is why. I am 55 years old and grew up with Michael Jackson who I think was the most talented entertainer ever. That is---before GD came along--I have been following him 5 years and he is the only entertainer I have ever seen that compares to MJ. The thing is that fame and money destroyed MJ. I watched him deteriorate over the years and it was sad. I couldn't bear it if the same thing happened to GD. I am disabled with a chronic, painful condition and sometimes the only thing that brings me solace is watching GD and kpop. I have seen a lot in 55 years. I saw MJ in concert at Wembley in London in 1988---I even saw Elvis Presley in concert when I was younger. So--believe me when I say GD is one of the all-time best entertainers I have ever seen. I also saw Big Bangs concert at the Prudential center which was awesome. I pray every day for GD.

GD is really good at "doing" MJ but having grown up in the same era as you I'd have to say the only other performer that could be equal to (though different from) MJ is Prince! His concerts could literally leave you breathless with James Brown moves on steroids. MJ and Prince were equally amazing...

That is a fair point and it would make sense in this scenerio... if only the group did not primarily sing HipHop, R&B, and Rock (along with euro house and electro) with no less than 3 rappers in tow. Also, if she did her homework as a reporter, she would have consistently found that even when unprompted in their own country, "Young Beezy", GD, and TOP list (mostly black) American artists as their primary influence. So she's not talking to Rammstein. She's talking to guys whose music has been influenced heavily, to the point of accusation of plagiarism, by American music. I hope you are equally "pissed"/ vocal when you see real acts of nationalistic prejudice or racism in real life.
@SunyiSideUp10 жыл бұрын
1) This is an American network. 2) This was IN America. 3) The topic was about their American Alive Tour shows. 4) They DO American music. Since when is hip-hop & R&B NOT American music? 5) They mostly cite American artists as their main influences anyway, even when not prompted with "American artists" as a qualifier. Stop being anti-American for no reason, damn, that shit is so annoying.
@BrownGirlColorStruckWorld10 жыл бұрын
I don't know about anyone else, but there are so many things that are starting to make me dislike KPOP and none of it has to do with the actual music. It is all the bullsh' surrounding it- the least of which are not the fan base.
@xXcrunchiie8410 жыл бұрын
SunyiSideUp Well, I don't think he/she is being "anti American," and by the looks of it, you're being American biased. Big Bang does not do American music. What? You think America was the only continent to come up with music? It's not American artists that influence them. They also consider Bi Rain as one of their main influencers. By the way, I notice how some Americans consider Michael Jackson only American, when he's technically African American. There's a difference, you know. I, as Asian think that African Americans should be acknowledged as AFRICAN Americans.

Edit: Lol white people got mad and said I generalized in this post; obviously you have no reading comprehension but whatever. I honestly don't mean all white people are like this. This post originally said 'white people', but I changed it to native English speakers because little girls don't know how to read LOL Because nowhere in this post did I generalize; I was talking solely to people (aka random ass white girls - this is a joke I do not hate white people so stahp) who had a problem with their accents. This is going to sound REALLLLLY mean, but Native English speakers. Man. The world does not revolve around you. Just because they can't speak your language fluently doesn't mean you have to go on this rant on how offended you are that they speak with an accent. You were lucky enough to be born into an English speaking country, but others who aren't are 'lazy and stupid' when they can't speak English with a perfect American accent (because let's be honest, only Americans are narcissistic enough for this to be a problem - this is coming from an American)? Your asses can't speak anything BUT English, and a lot of these idols are bi- and even triligual! Take Jackson from GOT7 for instance, he can speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and English fluently, and I believe he knows some French and Japanese as well. Please get off your high horse and stop assuming that everyone should speak in English because it's the only thing your ignorant, privileged ass can understand. Obviously, this isn't about all, or even most, native English speakers. Just the stupid outspoken ones who think the world revolves around them :)
@thegnome85509 жыл бұрын
Man, you are ignorant . White people? You are acting like all americans are white. And YOUR LANGUAGE? It's language of english people (nation,NOT a race).And if you are refearing to all bullshiting about their non-english speaking than reafear to EVERY person and not just white. You were also saying bullshit about how most of white people can speak only english , which is ,again, very ignorant .Cuz I guess you forgot about ummm, idk EUROPE, . Almost every county has it's own language that is different than any other so I don't how white people speak only english -.-" smh
@hotcococup9 жыл бұрын
Um. I mentioned English-speaking COUNTRIES. And I said only the few white people who bag on their accents. I did NOT SAY that all white people came from English speaking countries, that's why I specifically said those FROM English speaking countries. Most people from English speaking countries (Aus, US, and UK mainly) only speak English, which is what I pointed out. Go take several seats. If you had even bothered to read my last sentence, or had an ounce of reading comprehension, you'd know that I did not generalize and put a disclaimer that I was only speaking of certain people. You bringing Europe (fucking Europe) into this is stupid lol, because Europe does not comprise of primary English speaking countries, as you said. My post was not about them.
@thomasr.71049 жыл бұрын
Please don't get angry at me. White people arn't really on a high horse. America isn't all white people it's a mix of all races. Not everybody in the U.S. Speaks English. I'm freaking thirteen and if u argue with me its waste of your time.

Ohmygooooooooood. Child. I literally said ENGLISH SPEAKING COUNTRIES, not just America. Did I say America was all white people? Nooooo. Chill tf out. I pointed out a lot of white people (usually from an English speaking country) in these comments mock their accents; that was the point of my post. I LITERALLY SAID 'THIS ISN'T ABOUT ALL, OR EVEN MOST, WHITE PEOPLE.' Just the ones who act like the world should revolve around them. Go away.

+Pandoras policebox I'm more used to Korea's older traditions (1990's) but even during those times yeah, hugging was usually reserved for "close friends and family", but this was for the respect of the person who would have received the hug. Times are changing super rapidly in korea rn so things might be different now.

All I was doing was stating my opinion that's what the comment box is for plus I wasn't being "ani American" how the hell do u no if I was being that in the first place? cuz I'm not U really shouldn't just assume that I'm being "anti american". Also I don't think she was being racist I just think she shouldve put that question in a different way because I no that they were influenced by different people because I've seen them on Korean TV shows saying they were influenced by different people. Also there are SOME people that aren't american that are not influenced by american artists. And they don't do american music if they did they would be doing music in america and all in English having tours in america they only did one. Plus they do kpop and k-hiphop. R&b and hip hop isn't american music either its a genre of music that's it its not JUST american because the Americans here it in america u can go to friggin Europe and hear r&b none of what your saying makes sence other than yes its on american network and yes their talking about their american tour and yes you have a point there sorry for my mistake. calm your friggin tits SunyiSideUp

You could've just replied to my comment, but okay... 1) You're wrong on many points. Hip-hop & R&B, no matter where it becomes performed, is American music. African-American, to be exact, and nothing you say will ever change that. "American" doesn't mean performed in English. Besides the fact that that idea is just incorrect, America doesn't even HAVE an official language, and you can totally have American music in languages other than English, even BY Americans. Some Americans don't even speak English. 2) I've been a BIGBANG fan for years. Literally years, probably 5 or 6 at this point. 98% of the time when you ask them who their musical inspirations are, they say Usher, Michael Jackson, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake, Biggie, among other American performers. I am not imagining this to be true. Everyone knows GD stans Pharrell probably more than VIPs stan GD. 3) The rest of your points do not negate the fact that this is an American show for Americans filmed in America before an American concert, which is why she asked them questions that relate to Americans. Don't watch FUSE if you don't want questions like "what American artists have inspired you?" It's not like you've never seen another interview from them, so why do you even give a fuck? JFC. I really don't get what the big deal is with you... And you can stuff that dumb shit about "stating my opinion" up your asshole, because your opinion is not so golden that no one can criticize it. You can't be so naive to think that "opinion" means you are protected from criticism. You stated your opinion, and it was stupid as fuck, tbh. Like, I don't get what's with people like you and your insane need to freak the fuck out any time America is mentioned. Like, when BIGBANG were in Singapore and they said "what Singaporean food do you like" nobody freaked out and said "OMG THEY EAT FOOD FROM PLACES OTHER THAN SINGAPORE!!! WHY NOT ASK THEM WHAT FOOD THEY LIKE IN GENERAL??!!" Like, it's stupid as fuck. It's because they were IN SINGAPORE. And here, it's because they're IN AMERICA that they were asked this question. Also?? DID I SAY YOU CALLED HER RACIST? And how the fuck would it be racist to ask about music from a specific country? America is a country with many races, INCLUDING ASIAN AND INCLUDING KOREAN, so that fucking statement makes no sense. DO YOU THINK WE'RE ALL WHITE PEOPLE OR SOMETHING?? And even if we were, how would it be racist to ask about inspiration from a particular country? If she asked which Mexican artists influenced them, how would that be racist? How does that even make sense? DO you know what racist means? You need to REALLY fuck off and stop replying to me. Odds are you're under 18, which is probably why everything you're saying is dumb as fuck. If you're a damn kid, I apologize, but damn, read a fucking history book before you say dumb shit like "hip-hop is not American music" lmao are you serious? Lmao.Please do not reply to me, I cannot with you, and your decision to be thick as hell rather than admit that you're wrong.

SunyiSideUp I'd just like it if you were to say African American, or Asian American, stuff like that...It would make other people feel better. I'd admit that I would.

These interviews with groups always make me cringe. Partly because it's usually only one member of the group talking for most of the interview.
