Artists like Bigbang are the boundary-pushers. They’re not really idols anymore, they don’t fit into the cookie cutter innocent image. They’re not pretty flower boys or beast idols (handsome classic movie star vibe), they’re artists in control of their own careers and have their own ideas. G-Dragon is the King of Kpop not because he’s written more songs than anyone else, it’s because he has changed the industry. Hair colours, light sticks, rappers, self-composing, self-producing, airport fashion, fashion spokesperson, etc. Also about GD’s eyes - he taught his juniors (iKON and Winner) that when performing, look at the audience members/cameras like you’re shooting lazer beams at them. He said to make them remember YOU. YG artists value charisma as much as singing ability. Choreography is always last, it’s more important to connect with the audience and sing live well than to dance perfectly. That’s why YG artists like Bigbang, 2NE1, Winner, iKON, AKMU, Blackpink, and now Treasure have such amazing stage presence. I hope you check more of these fantastic artists. I also recommend Shinee, EXO, Super Junior, and BTOB. They’re all great singers and performers. Not to mention they’re hilarious. Enjoy!

Idols were never considered as artists before with lyricism and production. They even influenced kpop artists of today to compose their own. 6. They're the celebrity of celebrities. Most people adore and are a fan of them. KPOP groups, actors, politicians etc. Mostly from KPOP industry. They're inspired and influenced by them. 7. The SONGS. BIGBANG doesn't create just create catchy songs, Some songs, the lyricism is so magnificent. They're meaningful and filled with emotions you want to feel. 8. Their stage presence. No one can beat their stage presence. The stage is powerful once they're performing. Every performance are eye catching. No lipsync reguired. All songs live. 9. BIGBANG saved YG Entertainment. YG Entertainment before BIGBANG is just a small company. But BIGBANG were struggling for food to eat because they don't have enough money and GDragon composes a song every night. But all the hardships are worth it. 10. Most fans don't idolized them because of looks, just pure talent. They were even called the "ugliest KPOP boy group" back in the days they were debuted. But people don't care for it, because the talent wins. 11. They're the first to use lightstick. Well before it was called "glowstick". Before it was just balloons and color to identify kpop groups. 12. They popularized EPs or Mini Albums. It started when they drop their album "Always" and with the hit song "Lies". 1:23 it was about the fact that a lot of awards shows in Korea aren’t truthful a lot of them takes money from companies so their groups wins or sometimes it’s only about the groups fans. He said that basically they give awards just to keep « the kids happy » as in the fandom and the groups/ big labels instead of giving awards according to music and talent ( which sadly is still very true now)

Awards shows in general are very flawed- everywhere. Part of that is because the concept of true music and talent is very subjective- it incorporates personal taste. Either way, I was disgusted by how much hate there was this past weekend when anyone but BTS won AAA awards. I'm actually an ARMY but it's also great when other groups get recognized as well. There's way too much quality out there for one group to get all the praise. That's why I did NCT and Monsta X reactions this week because I wanted to recognize groups that won.

I also soooo agree, I also hated that again when other groups there’s a certain toxicity, there’s plenty talented groups i really disliked the lack of support they faced. It was toward nct Monsta x and GOT7, and honestly I don’t even got why these 3 fandoms ( and group) are actually really chill and supportive so that was really weird to discredit their win. I used to be an army back around their debut but then but I really disliked the way most of the fandom don’t respect other groups and acts like it’s a cult lol ( i also quite didn’t forgave some stuff they said back then) It’s music we shouldn’t restrict ourselves to one artist and especially hate on other artists that also struggle and work hard, like for example KAI and GOT7 both released songs + an album on the same day but literally nobody complained and both fandom supported each other that’s what I like to see but I guess depending on the target audience of the group the age of the fandom differs so that’s maybe what causes certain behaviors

I think South Korea being sexually conservative or "oppressed" is hyped up a little more than is accurate. The country is constantly changing due to new generations and other cultural influences. Girl groups may not be as overtly sexual as in, say, the US, but it's still there. And I've seen movies and dramas that touch on or directly address the subject of sex and sexual relationships. I even saw one that was nearly straight-up porn. I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into! But I did enjoy the storyline 😅
