Big Bear Eagles ~ INTRUDER ALERT!! ✦ DEFEND & PROTECT! Intruder Follows Shadow! ✦ 1.20.20

Jackie was on the nest & she sees Shadow flying to the right and an intruder - looks to be a juvie or young sub adult following him! Then Shadow circles around no doubt escorting the intruder out of the area. Intruder vocals are heard in the distance at 2:04. In real time and slomo with zoom!
Jackie takes off and Shadow will return to the nest vocal - he is on alert!! He flies off the nest again and vocals are heard in the distance. Shadow returns to protect and incubate the eggs quickly. Sixteen minutes later, we hear Jackie's vocals and Shadow answers her. She returns to the nest to take over the night shift. They are quite the team defending and protecting their nest & territory! Wonderful Shadow! Protecting his mate and eggs! I remember when Shadow didn’t know about incubating eggs. Now He shimmies down and even rolls the eggs! You’re the best Shadow! ❤️

Wow, incredible eyesight being able to distinguish between family and intruder at Great distance. I have to admit I was a little nervous when eggs expose for just a brief moment. Telling and chasing off the intruder "Did you not read the sign no fly by or no trespassing on our property"

If i trust my eyes Shadow was carrying a fish, therefore he was followed by the juvie or young subadult. They are all hungry. As we have learnt they don't have an easy time in the first years, even sometimes must try to steal a fish. Thanks for the slomo with zoom, LH.

No, Simba should have very few, in any, white feathers on his head as of yet. It takes 5 years for the eagles to mature to their white head and tail.

Neither are old enough, eagles get their white head at 5 years of age. Stormy is 2 years old and Simba is 9 months old.

Infrared light. Not visible to any predators eyes. Meaning owls in this case specifically.

Had a somewhat white head but no white tail so it might have been. I guess there is a lot of eagle nests in the area?

RutherfordClan nope, they don’t get white heads or tails until they’re 5 years old. So neither Stormy nor Simba.

I couldn't get a good look at the juvie. Could it have been Simba? Or was he too old (his head to white) & maybe it's to early for Simba to return home. Wouldn't Shadow & Jackie know their on eaglet? Oh, so many unanswered questions.

Even if it was one of there older eaglets there going defend home. Once you fly away that's it. That's mom and dads nest find your own. It's basically how it works. You might be my kid but sorry to close get away
