I really enjoyed your informational video about these magnificent birds! So yes, please keep doing them! In addition to general information about eagles, I would like to see more specific information about Jackie Shadow, please. Things like how they became mates, previous eggs, and or babies, how many months of the year are they on the nest, can they swim? I’ve seen conflicting information about the swimming. I’ve heard that if a fish is too heavy for them to fly out of the water, they can use their wings as paddles to get to shallow or water, or shore, to be able to complete the catch of the fish. also they seem to be so sensitive so if the nest were getting too heavy with all the sticks, would they be aware of that, and start building a nest elsewhere, or even perhaps removing sticks from their nest to keep it from falling due to the weight? Are all eagles eyes gold? What can the average citizen do to try to help protect these wonderful birds? Why do a lot of them have lead poisoning? Is it because a lot of fish have lead or because they eat carcasses that have been shot by hunters, and have led from the bullets? do they ever bathe in the water? Can you hear the baby eagles in their eggs before they pip? Can Jackie and shadow tell when there’s no more movement in the eggs and no if it’s time to give up because they’re not viable? I’m trying not to worry about Jackie but I think today or actually yesterday might’ve been the 40th day from the First egg lay. I know for her 39 to 40 days is normal. But maybe 41 or 42 days is too long. And I noticed this afternoon there was a time when she started screaming on the eggs and just flew off and left them for about five minutes. Then one of them came back and got back on the eggs. But it made me wonder if she could feel that perhaps the babies weren’t moving in the eggs anymore or if that is a common practice sometimes? So you can see I have a lot of questions and I’m sure other people do too. So yes, please keep doing these educational videos. Tell us more! We want to know more! Thank you so much for all you do for these fantastic birds, and for sharing it with the world! I’m so grateful to have found them and you! It is truly brightened my life and a lot of my friends lives! And everyone has been so nice, and I love their commentary on the website and KZbin! God bless you all!🦅❤🙏😁

I saw Harriet deal with a snake at SwFla nest and she fluffed nest more than average I think. She’d fluff at night and around perimeter of bowl. I wonder if IR light draws the reptiles with infra red vision?
@BirdlifeOdyssey10 ай бұрын
@timothymattson3680 Thanks a lot for your great comment. ❤️ Reptiles like snakes have evolved specialized organs to detect infrared light, allowing them to hunt prey, evade predators, and navigate their environment effectively. @@BirdlifeOdyssey Thank you. I feel better knowing that.
@sylvisterling878210 ай бұрын
@@jfitzgerald6039 Yes. Also, Big Bear Valley is a VERY large area, and the area is under the watchful eye of the United States Forest service, as well. The rangers close the areas near the nest on December 1st, so that eagles and other wildlife can have a safe nesting and breeding season without humans intruding. Friends of Big Bear Valley maintain the cameras, but they do it during the months when the eagles are NOT nesting. Apparently, eagles do not mind humans at the nest when there are no eggs to protect. Also, this nest they are using, is several years old, having been used by several pairs of eagles, each of which adds to the nest each year. By now the nest is six feet deep and five and a half feet across. It's strong and substantial.

How do they know the eggs are not viable, and what do the do.
@BirdlifeOdyssey10 ай бұрын
@traveltrailertimes7597 When bird parents realize that an egg isn’t going to hatch, they stop incubating it. They may move it around the nest so it is out of the way.

Jackie and Shadow have feathers on their head. Why are they referred to as bald eagles?
@BirdlifeOdyssey9 ай бұрын
@addison6384 There will be another episode soon. I can tell you that the name comes from an old English word which means 'white'. You'll be able to get to know more in the next video. Thanks a lot for asking! ❤️❤️

Oh, it’s terrible. I could watch all day. But, I can’t. So I have reminders on my iPhone calendar that ring a bell telling me to check on the “kids” several times a day.

Didn’t know they eat so much fish I have heard tales of them carrying off baby lambs and even infant humans but after watch J&S I don’t believe those tales. I think they eat a lot of fish but will take A bunny or two or other small mammals

@ninettaflores7515 Jackie and Shadow eat mainly fish on camera but bald eagles can eat some mammals such as rabbit, possum, lamb, foal, kitten. They can also eat turtles and birds such as ducks, geese, coot, cormorants, spoonbills, etc.
