That seemed like a big shift in their relationship. Jackie's no longer incubating, at which time she'd always be given the fish, but now she's on her own, apparently. She can hunt just fine by herself so I'm not worried. I just don't like how it went down. Perhaps tomorrow she'll fly in and toss out all his sticks, ha ha ha!

So funny, shadow didn’t give in to her this time! They was both on their talons and beak to beak, with wings flapping. He meant he was eating his fish this time. She’s not incubating and can catch her own sometimes, he incubated too when she let him. It’s funny when she knows he has dinner and races him to the nest. These two are the best.

Wow, that was something! I wonder if Shadow's ears are still ringing. Jackie wanted the whole world to know how mean Shadow was to her, not letting her have that fish. I think I would feel bad for her if I didn't think she would have taken the whole fish from him and not share, as she has done in the past. I was quite startled by the actual fight, with wing slaps and body bumps. That was pretty aggressive behavior. Are they roosting in separate places tonight? This last season was the first time I've ever watched any eagles and this couple just made my heart smile so much! Of course, then breaking after the ravens, the eaglet dying during hatching and the last egg not being viable. I had never seen any eagle couples outside of a hatching season and as thoughtful and accommodating as Shadow is to Jackie, I thought it was really scary to watch their fight over food. Thanks Cali Condor for helping us to know that this is regular behavior for the summer season. I really speciation ALL of your knowledge and your willingness to share!

I was hoping that someone would capture that moment, while I was on the Live Stream to where right after, they calmed down, as where I was hoping is when I got curious to where I hovered the Mouse Arrow at the Timeline to see what happened earlier & the Preview I got is where it involved Jackie and/or Shadow making their Noise & as I got the Notification (As I’m subscribed to different Users, like Cali Condor here, Lady Hawk, etc. ‘cause of my obsession with the Bald Eagles recently…), Cali Condor here is who captured the moment. While watching this I noticed my tendency to assign human emotions to this food fight between these two lovely creatures. They both were obviously hungry and I was thinking Jackie looked like she was purposely sucking in her crop and looking downright destitute while pleading to Shadow in a whine how hungry she was, telling him she was too weak to fish for herself. Meanwhile, Shadow was eating too fast and getting stomach ulcers.. It's so easy to attach our humanness to animals -- cartoons and kids' TV shows do it all the time. At the end of this wonderful video, satiated Shadow went back to arranging sticks while cleaning his beak, and I assume Jackie took off to catch a fish of her own. And I'd be willing to bet the entire 'argument' was forgotten just as quickly as it started. Thank you Cali Condor!
