Well I could enjoy the first part of this video. Once Spirit comes in all spazzing out I just can't listen to that anymore. I understand yes it's nature, yes she's gotta be tough, aggressive and on top of things. But for one moment I thought given the title it was actually going to be a solo video of Shadow enjoying himself to his own catch and devices. I know so many say J&S did a great job and how much they have moved Spirit along, but part of me thinks deep down inside both J&S they're like okay any day now little girl you can go on your journey. Any day now. :) But, I also know myself it's gonna suck when that day comes because Spirit is the first eaglet I've seen from J&S since last year was a no go on hatching and I almost want to say same for 2020 cause Simba was in 2019 right? Crap I'm rambling have a wonderful late Sunday early Monday All. :)

Found on the Internet: Q: Do young eagles learn to hunt from their parents or are their skills innate? A: An excellent question. Young eagles from wild nests develop their hunting skills on their own, but spend considerable time after they fledge watching their parents and undoubtedly learning by watching what the adults do. The actual skills involved are learned by trial and error, I'm sure. Much of the hunting skill (or at least the drive to hunt) is innate, as our hacked eagles were fledged into an environment without adults around to "teach" or "show" these young birds. Yet, these birds, again through trial and error, learned to hunt for themselves and survive. We felt it was important to continue to provide food at our hacking towers after the eaglets fledged, to give them a source of food for as long as they needed it. Eventually, each eagle at it's own pace, these young birds stopped using our offerings and began foraging on their own. Similarly in the wild, the adult parents will continue to provide food for some time after fledging, while the newly flighted birds hone not only their hunting skills, but their flying skills. On average, I would say it takes about 4-12 weeks for young eagles to start hunting successfully. True, fully refined, specialized hunting skills, probably take years to develop.

Sorry for facts I know some people like the cuddly snuggly type stuff and ignore other things but here goes. it is sad to see Spirit like this, knowing that one day Jackie and Shadow will not be around to gather for her or protect her. This nest will fall to other predators of the sky unfortunately but that is nature and life. It is like the child that gets so used to mom and dad doing everything once time comes to be an adult they do not know how. It is nothing neither parent did or did not do it is just simple life. I can assume that everyone wishes a long life for all those involved but me on a personal note want to see Spirit be a bit more free and independent , I would love to see her return with a fish or something but I think she may be one of the rarities that doesn't know how at least yet.

Spirit just fledged the end of May. She is still learning how to stick a landing. She will certainly need a lot more time to learn the coordination necessary to snatch a fish from the water. These magnificent birds feed their young for approximately 10 weeks after they leave the nest. Even then a young bird will need time to learn to fish and will mostly eat dead fish.
