I was just in London at the end of July this year, so I was happy that I got to see Big Ben & hear it chime (even though it was slightly covered in scaffolding) before they stopped it for a few years. I hope to go back really soon. I wish I saw more of London when I was there (& I was there for a week), but for now I'll enjoy these videos :)

Interesting fact: Big Ben is not actually the name of the tower- it is in fact the name of the bell inside!

It's sad that such an iconic symbol of London will be covered up for the next few years but you're right, it is quite necessary. We here in Washington DC kinda went through the same thing when the Washington Monument was covered in scaffolding for a few years for repair.

I do want to thank you for your videos, especially Burrough Market, had an awesome duck sandwich. It was a huge pile of shredded duck on a ciabatta and it was only 6 pounds, yummy.

Ha it looks so ugly I'm glad I already saw it a few times because I was there two weeks ago and I was like damn that's an eye sore. Felt a bit sorry for all the tourists seeing it for the first time. I love London but I really hate that there's constant construction/maintenance going on. No matter where you stay there seems to be building work going on all day. The last place I stayed had builders outside shouting from 10 till 6 in the morning, every single day.

As you know, love your videos. But, you know I have to say it, Big Ben is NOT the tower. It is the Bell. So, technically, it's always covered up. Also, "me Mum" told me that during WWII (she was a kid in the Blitz) it struck 13 once.
