When I got my first job and started driving, I would drive around my city and try to get lost and then find my way home. To explore and find my way around. Also, when traveling I look forward to getting lost, and set aside time just to walk around and get lost and then find my way back. It's my favorite way to explore and familiarize myself to a new place. Great video Syrus et al keep up the great work!

Also a few hacks I've learned since living in London - If you live 1 or 2 stops from the end of your tube line, and you're commuting at rush hour to central London, go back one stop, then get on the train and you'll almost definitely get a seat If you want someone to talk to you on the tube, all you have to do is have an audible rant about how Boris Johnson fucked up TFL (this works, I've tried it) You can use the Victoria line to cut out loads of journey time, say you're on the northern line going from tooting to Chalk Farm, you can change onto Victoria at Stockwell, then change back onto northern at Warren Street Avoid changing at euston at all costs You can walk to pretty much anywhere in central London from Kings Cross Don't change at Oxford Circus at rush hour, you will not get on a train for several minutes

Urban Exploration! Yes, it's a terrific way to learn new things about the city you live in. Go down a street you've never been down before, get off the bus a few stops early or later than normal and see what's in that area. I always take photos of interesting, unusual or just plain strange things found on urban exploring outings. Urban art (murals, cool graffiti) always catches my eye. You can even find fantastic new places to eat or stores to shop at. It's also a good way to break the monotony of life sometimes. Be spontaneous and adventurous :D

I recently pointed out to a friend that he could pick up his train to/from Enfield at Hackney Downs instead of Tott. Hale. This allows a choice of 2 routes to equidistant stations from home if there's disruption, but also one less change of trains. No need for the sweaty Victoria line, going up/down stairs and escalators or the scrum of Highbury & Islington. The best part is bagging a seat before his train reaches Tottenham. Win/Win!

I'm not a native Londoner but there are many things London and the city I am in, Washington DC, have in common: the escalator thing, hordes of tourists (especially in the summer), in fact I'm trying to get in my DC exploration in now, in the winter, before the kids are out for the summer, because come summertime, watch out! It's hot, it's muggy, there's a billion people at the mall and museums and monuments, but there are still quiet, not very known and out of the way attractions that not too many tourists know about.

A common mistake of Londoners is that they use their smartphones while walking on the pavements. London streets are not safe. Many moped thieves are stealing smartphones from the hand of Londoners daily. Moped crime is very common in London and police is unable to do anything serious. One reason is that most thieves are adolescent and are somehow protected by the law. There is a a tremendous rise of moped crime in London lately in areas like the Regent street, Oxford street or the City. KZbin is full of videos of moped thieves who steal smartphones from naive Londoners.

Is it crazy that we hated the tube and thought the buses were awesome. The tube was too much walking and too many stairs. We were there in November so maybe that was not as busy.
