Damn that was amazing. I never knew Big Bend looked like that. I’ve out twice in a non 4 wheel drive car, so never was about to Explorer Big Bend National or State Park. I do ride an Adventure motorcycle and have been planning a trip out there soon.

Man it sucks being poor I want to fly! I've never been in a plane big bend looks amazing I bet it wouldn't be fun walking with 1 bottle of water lol

You can probably afford to take a road trip out there. Also look into co-ownership of a plane or flying clubs to keep the costs reasonable.

Which part of Big Bend did you filmed this? I go to Big Bend often and nothing seems familiar. That ski mountain and canyons are not even on any of my trail maps or trail books. Could this be in Big Bend State Park? Nice video though. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry for the very late reply. This was all videoed north of the national park, near Taurus Mesa, Terlingua, and south/southwest toward the state park.

Beautiful Place - as fellow pilot we both know NPS requests min 2k ft AGL over Parks to not disturb wildlife and people.
@clarkgriswold-zr5sb7 жыл бұрын
This wasn't over the national park. But as you say, it's a request. Almost 6,000 people have enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the area from this video. Probably 5,995 more than were out there when we flew over!!

Fair enough. It really is a beautiful place. I definitely want to check out Big Bend NP. Be safe my friend.

Some of it was definitely too low....also parts in the State Park.

@@angelamurrell9339 according to what? FAR 91.119 says no minimum over sparsely populated areas. And no floor over BBRSP.

We've booked a flight over Big Bend on October 30. I want to get some video with my GoPro. The last flight I tried to shoot video with my Canon 5d out of the window, but it wasn't very good. Looks like you have the camera attached to the outside of the plane. How did you do that? Would appreciate any tips. Thank you.
@clarkgriswold-zr5sb9 жыл бұрын
All of this was made with a GoPro. It was mounted to the tie down attachment under the wing with a custom attachment. If you're flying in a Cessna, the pilot might let you attach a small video camera to the tie down ring or wing strut (make sure your attachment is non-marring and will protect the airplane paint). I use various attachments depending on the type of shot I want. Top of wing, below, fuselage centerline, etc. Shooting through the Plexiglas from inside the plane rarely works well due to glare. DSLR might work through the Plexi for stills using a circular polarizer. I used Adobe Premiere to remove the lens distortion. Good luck!

Also, the small video cameras must be very rigidly attached to the plane. You do not want it moving at all. My cameras are attached using three points. A bit overkill, but they are all one with the airplane structure. Also, you'll have to fly very early or catch a calm day. I had a pretty decent weather day, mid-morning, but still has some light chop. Email me if you have other questions.

Now they want to put a wall here, save the park !
@bryanj53256 жыл бұрын
No wall is going here. It's going where the people are crossing the border!
@richardmourdock27196 жыл бұрын
Exactly... I've said that since the first time the discussion of building a wall took place. If a 1500 foot cliff along the Rio Grande won't stop illegals, a ten foot wall won't do a thing. You'd need to be superbly stupid to think you could walk from Mexico into the US across BB country.
