If you're using the plasma rifle then you're missing one of the gunner's best perks, over whelming fire. The 6th shot of your plasma rifle will stun an enemy, and since your ROF is so high its almost immediate.This stops drones in their tracks, stops an enemy grappling you, instantly saves team mates while they're being grappled without needing to use an ability, and can give you valuable seconds of extra time to kill heavies. This perk is also immediately activated when at least 6 shells hits a target when firing a shotgun. You're missing hit and run tactics which should be a must on insane. Not for the movement speed, which is also very helpful but for the grapple damage resistance. If you get grappled and your health goes to 0 on insane, your just dead, even if its the first time you go down. That perk can save you from having to restart the mission. You could also swap out one of those weapon perks for jackpot. You're not going to notice the extra 10% fire rate boost you've swapped for it and is an incredible perk that is super handy if a group of bursters or a pair of prowlers is coming at you. You'll also get much better DPS boosting your shotgun rather than the auto rifle. A pump action with extra accuracy and fire rate is down right monstrous, especially when its immediately stunning every single runner you dont one shot and giving you more time to put the damage into tougher enemies. I hope your video helps newer players find their feet, but as for me, i will pass.

Thanks for the grenade info. I didnt realize the double stagger option. I tend to use my grenade like lancer uses beam, as a problem solver for the class. Staggering elites is tempting though. Only quibble is that you amped up your rifle, but decided cqw weapon based on overclocking ability. If shotty is your elite popper, maybe overwhelming/suppressing fire your rifle for crowd control / team assist. Just a thought, and i get that dead is slowest of all (ie, just max fire rate/damage). imma play with gunner some more.

Will give it a shot, it seems like you should've mentioned playing with a recon is a must due to the builds investment into just shooting your rifle. Anyone without good aim is going to run out of ammo without many kills heh.

Tiny bit dishonest at the start since you're using extrodinary weapons giving the team +35%(?) more weapon damage. You individually did (627x80rounds with no misses = 50,160 and i see at least a dozen 241's in the first half of the burst) less than 50k damage, prolly closer to 45k. The Warrior has 180k hp, so the recon or technician or both out damaged you by using their shotguns. If you were using a pump each shot would be hitting for 7-11k damage or about 56k-88k damage a mag blowing the plasma's damage out the window with your current build that uses 12 tiles soley to buff the plasma rifle. Also Weakspot damage is unfortunately not the best stat unless you can use it to hit a new kill threshold (going from 1300 damage to 1400 damage takes you from a 3 shot to a 2 shot on runners) or if the weapon has a low weakspot multiplier (like Shotguns or Heavy weapons) or you are tight on ammo and cant afford to use RoF for DPS. This is because it stacks additively, so if a weapon like the plasma does 200% weakspot damage and give it another 45% you do 245% weakspot damage, 245 compared to 200 is only 22.5% more damage per shot. While a 25% RoF increase is a 25% DPS increase. Imo the extra duration on overclock isnt needed, it only needs to last long enough to delete whatever you need it too and it does. Can easily free up space for the powerful focus perks like a 25% slow or a guaranteed stumble, or down & out which is great for your double knockdown frag, or down range which makes your shotgun and plasma MUCH better past 10m

Pretty sure Kramer has the highest dps if you buff its firerate. Idk if they buffed the plasma since, but I ditched it because it wasnt doing much against bursters and elites on extreme/insane

Indeed. Unmodified, the Kramer has higher DPS, but modified, the Plasma Rifle has more DPS and that's because of Rapid Dispersal Unit. With that attachment, reloading takes less than a second, adding to your DPS as you can get back into the fight much quicker than with the Kramer. Not the mention, the Plasma Rifle also has more ammo which also contributes to DPS. But the beauty of this build as that you can use any automatic AR, even the automatic burst variant (gruppa) and still shine. 😁

@@Psyqhical Ammo and reload arent much of an issue if you have a recon though. I just tried the plasma again on extreme and while it's better than I remember, I gotta say i'll stick to the kramer...I beat insane with it so it's definitely viable

Does not reveal. Without a Recon it's better. But, if you have a Recon (which you will 99% of the time in Extreme or Nightmare difficulty), you'll want to be able to reveal to procc the Recon's 10% Teamwide damage boost.

Play on Intense with challenge cards that grant XP or team up with ppl on the official discord and have them help you out with XP cards. The really good players can practically speedrun Intense on their own.

Ah ok, so most of these build vids now that are catered for late game should be seen to take in to consideration that there should be a recon involved. I’m only asking as I like solo play but should that idea be scrapped when thinking late game in this particular case.

You can do it. There are vids out there where ppl solo extreme and insane content. But, I always make my builds with teamplay in mind. That's why I have Quickload Interlink and Focus Fire. On higher difficulties, Max Ammo is reduced and enemies are bullet sponges. So, imo, a Recon is a must.

The plasma rifle works well with the gunners focus fire perk and the two perks thst can be attached to it as you get max stacks faster, which unfortunately this guy isnt fully utilizing as he only has focus fire. In the scenario he was using Suppressing/over whelming fire, the plasma is better than the Kramer. But outside of over clock, the DMRs and snipers generally provide better DPS, providing your accurate. When using overclock im using the shotgun anyway as its better DPS, and immediately activates all the perk bonuses that i mentioned above. At least explain yourself and offer constructive criticism for the guy.
