I'm super late to this game. Aliens Dark Descent got me hooked on Xenos lol and came back to this after playing it 2 days on release then dropping it. Such a good video from you! Gunner is my favorite class for it's simplicity and effectiveness. And I LOVE the look and sound of that plasma rifle. Can't wait to try it all out. Thanks!

I made a build that I dubbed STUN GUN. It has combos for days. Plasma rifle - vented flash hider, flared breech, green dot sight. Plasma shotgun - tanker muzzle brake, flared breech, green dot sight. Overclock - quickload interlink, stopwatch, quick charge 1. Frag grenade - rapid deployment, remote detonator, shrapnel, disorienting blast. Stay on target - targets acquired. Focus fire - overwhelming fire, suppressing fire. Down and out. Jackpot.

Tanker muzzle doesn't proc if using overwhelming fire. If using anti material break than your causing another issue with distorting blast to work correctly. This can happen if teammates are using the same muzzles too. Would recommend using the counterbalance muzzle which gives more fire rate. I prefer CQW perks over the focus fire stuff. Takes up a lot of room for very lil bit it does. Throw on tec CQW training, CQW mastery and gunner mastery. This will make any shotgun put out far more damage. Also, using short controlled burst and let's rock will make your shotgun pin point accurate with very lil recoil. I prefer the pump or plasma but I find I can ditch out more damage with the pump simply because the charge on the plasma causes it to not fire correctly with every shot when you want to fire fast. I would still have your build over the vids build tho. It's almost similar to mine. Anyways just my advice. PS try the new Astra. Just amazing and beams with short control burst and let's rock perks too. Cheers

@@dougiexxtrillmoniumxx9727 I can't let go of my plasmas. Terminator 1&2 fanatic. What I do is proc overwhelming with the rifle, then sticky bomb stun, then grenade stun, then shotgun stun. This way I max out the stuns for the team. I hope the plasma shotgun gets fixed with its bugged fire rate.

Just did some testing and strangely had multiple stuns within 10 seconds of each other on both my rifle and shotgun. These happened if I kept the 5 stacks or let it run out and rebuild them. It did look like the down and out bonus wasn't applied on the strange secondary stuns.

love the rework of the big bad clock (fixed the name for you). about the grenades, i'm most likely less skilled then you and prefere the triple grenades (3 stuns seperatly instead of 2 on 1 target, feels less frustrating when i miss). also i like the slow on focus fire but would you say thats overkill in the cc department? love the builds and the numbers you crunched, you deserve more subs and views :)

You can definitely change to Mini Nades with this build, just know you'll be sacrificing something for it. Same with the Slow Perk for Focus Fire. It's not bad, but you'll have to sacrifice some damage for it.

Does this series of builds still hold up in 2024? I only ever played this game on and off and want the best of the best builds getting back in the game today. Either way it is a great video that really goes into great detail.

Sounds like a solid build to me and I will be running it but I wonder if you have a solo build for hardcore mode. It's the one trophy I still need because finding players for hardcore is not quite so simple.

If you're playing on PC or PS5, I'll run hardcore with you. For some reason PS4 cross playing causes serious lag/frame rate issues for me, which I definitely won't suffer on hardcore. But yeah, lmk.

Are there any calculations on how much Range one would need to bring the Mini- Grenades back close to the regular AoE ? I'm thinking about using them with Disorienting Blast, or should i not even bother with range since the Knockdown is more valuable/ the point of using this ability ?

Turret Restock, iirc. 🤔 Alternatively, you can use cards that reward attachments on missions and get it that way.

Is the quick load interlink bugged? Everytime I active it , it doesn’t reload my gun on activation… playing on the Xbox.. it only did it once and doesn’t do it again.

Not really, you can't really "farm" in this game. Best you can do is do the latest mission on highest difficulty with Challenge Card that give you extra Credits, but you still have to make it to the end otherwise you get nothing. 😕

what about Stopwatch? 20 percent of your overclock on at all times?

imo, I found that Stopwatch does more harm then good. Sure, you're shooting faster, but you're also burning through ammo faster, meaning that the Recon has a harder time keeping up. 😋 But if you want, you can take it. I'd replace it with Down & Out. 20% extra fire rate for a long duration probably outshines 20% extra damage for 2 seconds. 🤔

@@Psyqhical yeah was my thinking, the extra rate of fire vs the burst damage to stun? I wish there was a sanitary way to test damage output/throughput in this game and that the end match stats were broke down a bit better. its hard to see what effect team members are having on each other and the impact of some build mechanics as is. ammo consumption is a great point but I never build around a recon as I am the only guy willing to play it in my group of friends so when I am on demo or gunner or whatever there is never a recon lol. means I always have to pad some max ammo in at a loss of DPS

Umm why not change rifle training to cqw training for more overclock dps?plus you would be killing elite much faster in close quarters

You can, but the reason I don't recommend it is cause, outside of Overclock, the Auto Shotgun isn't that great. Yes, the Auto Shotgun has the highest damage at the end of an Overclock, but that's total damage over 9 seconds, not DPS. Your Rifle is where most of your damage outside of Overclock will be. And, normally, Overclock + Auto Shotgun is all you need to take down a big red elite in seconds. So no need for perks, imo.

Tbh, Kramer would be on the bottom of the list for me on the Gunner. The higher the Rate of Fire of the gun, the more increase you'll get through Overclock. If you don't like the Plasma Rifle, I'd recommend the Heavy Assault than.

Maybe from the Pathogen missions? Try using a challange card that give you an extra attachment as reward.

Except most your pellets are missing the target and your range is crap. You have to be within like 4 meters for the auto shotty to do full damage. This is why most smart people use the pump because it's high damage and range are far better to have on Insane. This is not a good build for Insane. I use the plasma rifle and Auto shotgun with rifle perks with my easy mode loadout. Which is for Intense or lower difficulties. Plus mini nades are far more Superior now because of having 3 nades with knockdown ability. The new Astra burst rifle is my new fav. Put on short control burst n let's rock and it will beam. The pump shotty is still the best shotty. The plasma shotty is a close call. Any build for Insane that can run a shotty always has at least 3 cqw perks in my grind. Which help with accuracy reload and fire rate. Short control burst and let's rock really help with the pump shotty to. My build has stopwatch and the mini nades, distorted blast. Sorry but focus fire and the other perk waste to much room for the lil bit they do. Your rifle is really to take down the runners which don't need extra perks to do. Your main damage dealer is the shotty. Recommend beefing it up with any class that can use it. It's want will help with greens and reds that spawn in. Remote nade isn't bad. Was my go-to back in the day but now the minis are 10x better. This build you got seem more for Intense or lower which isn't really an end-game build. I don't know anyone I play with on Insane beefing up rifle perks for Insane. Lol

Plus you said it yourself the auto was only efficient with overclock. Otherwise it sucks. Maybe not in this exact words. Lol. Don't get me wrong tho. Anything can be used. It's really about your teammates. If everyone is a pro at the game than they can make any weapons/perks and class work. Just wouldn't recommend your build for someone new to Insane. Especially running with randos. Lol

@@dougiexxtrillmoniumxx9727 My thought process behind this build is that Overclock is your big red elite killer (Warrior, crusher, praetorian,...). In a 3 man team, each member is responsable for 33% of the team's damage. In my video I explained that, during an Overclock, the Auto Shotgun does the most damage (regardless of perks, cause if you add perks to the Pump Shotty it's only fair you also apply it for the Auto Shotty). So, no matter the perks, the Auto Shotty does more damage in the end. Not to mention that the Pump Shotty loses a lot of damage due to it's reload mechanic. (It's twice as long as the Auto Shotgun's) Also, a Warrior has about 190k health on Insane, while an Overclocked Auto shotty does 88k damage in total (without perks). That's already close to 50% of it's health. Meaning, instead of 33%, my teammates only need to do 25% of their responsable damage, which during an Overclock is very achieveable. Since I'm already doing so much damage with the Auto Shotgun, I don't feel like I need any CQW perks. This frees up space for other perks; like Focus fire and Overwhelming Fire. This gives me an extra stun while also helping the team deal 10% more damage. (It's not just our damage that gets buffed by Focus Fire, the entire team benefits from it) Sure, you have 3 knockdowns cause of your grenades. But, I have 2 knockdowns and a Stun that procs on every new target. I don't have to wait for that stun. 🤷‍♂️

@@Psyqhical Normally I do 50% if not more damage than the rest of the team most the time. The Auto shotty only looks good on paper. The range is crap. I don't need to wait to shot things close with the pump. It's valid at mid range too. A gunner should be getting at least 1.5mil damage per game. If your not doing that than your not playing the gunner right and iv had many games getting 2mil too. My main gunner build would destroy your gunner build in this vid. Guaranteed or your money back. 😂Not going to argue damage numbers. Most people don't even know how to calculate the weakpoint damage or even realize it's X atm of damage times the X atm of pellets. Just a shame. I tried several times myself to use the auto shotty on Insane and every time it was a struggle simply because I had to be right in the face of everything to kill it efficiently. Therefore it cause me to use my rifle more for mid range and getting close to elites is a no no because they can melee you and you could get shot by a friendly. I personally can just destroy with the pump over any other shotgun in the game with any class that can use it.
