I did 1 of those old school rings and bearings thing on an old 300 ford straight 6. It was pretty cheap with no machine shop and I had already had to buy a piston and head. Did it all without pulling motor and just honing the cylinders. I got another 100 k out of it before i sold it and it was still running strong with no smoke. Fun video, ty

On the pos motor mount bolt / nut ordeal weld the nuts to the motor mount plate whole lot easier to put back on an take off when it's in the car

If you're ever going to rev these things up make sure you do the 1/2" oil pickup mod if possible.* The larger diameter pickups are an off the shelf item but you have to drill and tap the block. Next thing you have to enlarge and nicely radius the passage to the oil pump which is easy as it's really short. It is a straight forward mod. Thing is it is the suction side on these engines that is more the restriction. *Fitment can become a problem on stroker cranks since the pickup boss is very close to the counterweight but at 500cubes you should be good. Also, as UTG points out on his channel, if you want to rev them up you need adjustable rockers. For performance they simply don't have enough stock lifter preload for operation over 46-4800rpm. Better valve springs don't help in this situation because the problem is preload related and the best springs in the world can't fix the preload problem.

It's missing the windage tray. On big block Mopars it's part of the oil pan gasket.

How is that headgasket ever going to seal anything? Some wonderanium compound alloy? The piston head is that far in the hole, bcz if it comes any closer to the edge, the gasket fails, or the valve reliefs blow through piston rings, or both. Seems like the whole engine was created to meet the demand of "Big Engine", without any actual intention to make it efficient, powerful, or anything like that. Just to consume copious amounts of fuel. "Reliable"? With those fuel consumption/displacement/output power numbers, anything is reliable.
