A lot of guys want the cranks out of those 400 sbc to use to build 383s . Cylinder heads can crack on them because the deck heights of the heads are thin plus if the steam holes get clogged in these heads they can crack from the heat . There's more & more guys building the 400 sbc that are making some really good power and torque numbers with them . I have one that i put in my 82 K10 thats in pretty good condition that i use to plow my driveway with during winter in WI but once winter is done i take the plow off of it and drive it at times during the spring summer instead of letting it sit . Just did a intake swap from the stock cast iron intake to the first model Weiand stealth aluminum high rise dual plane and a carburetor jetted for performance rather than milage and it has a noticeable gain in power and torque from the stock carburetor and intake manifold. These intakes make great hp and torque from off idle to 6,800 RPMs where the new stealth intakes drop off at a lower rpm . I bought my intake used & someone had already started doing port gasket matching on some of the intake ports which I had planned on doing which saved me some time having to do all 8 of them . The old intake manifold must have weighed 60 pounds & was marked EGR on the bottom of it and it got tossed into a hole by my rock wall fence line that the prior owner of the house next to me had someone come out late 1 night in a excavator to open up this rock wall fence line so his low end of his property would drain the water onto mine which really ticked me off . He eventually moved after a few years because I had caught him on my property trying to shoot deer without my permission and calked the law on him . So since then no problems with the new neighbor but i have been slowly putting boulders & rocks back in place and 1 old heavy assed 400 cast iron intake manifold in this hole being it isn't worth anything as far as cash value or for scrap either so it got tossed 😁.

Good afternoon from Cape Cod ⛵ you would think everything would switch over with no problem, yes I learned also I was so freaking wrong 😂 different engine swap in a 98 GMC suburban and learned that it was a stand-alone year, electronics for the 350 was it compatible with anything else without swapping everything. I love my 97 k3500 GMC, and even as a dumb Carpenter I figured out all the electronics and how they function in conjunction with everything else. I was hoping to see your truck running and driving today but I guess I have to wait till the next installment. Keep up the great work and thanks for entertainment and knowledge ✌️🇺🇲

I've never seen another auto manufacturer facelift their vehicles so incrementally as GM did in the 90s. Much like the OBS trucks where the facelift occurred over the span of three model years (94 front clip, 95 interior, 96 drivetrain), the Astro/Safari vans were the same way. I had a 1995 Astro. The front clip and side door badging was from a 96-05, whereas the interior and rear badging was from a 90-94 (though I've seen some 95 Safaris with the newer rear badging too). The only fuel injection option for 95 was central port injection, previously optional with TBI being standard on 94 and earlier. I believe the 95 CPI engine was the same as the 94s and earlier, being OBD1. From what I have read, the rear suspension went one way or the other. Some 95 owners report having the 96 and later rear steel leaf springs, whereas others (including my own van) came with the 94 and earlier single composite rear leaf in the back. It was truly a "use what you have until you run out" approach. Makes it a pain if you want to stiffen your rear suspension or lift your van. Classic GM.
