Big Blue 63W

This is a quick unboxing and first impression video of the Big Blue 63W foldable solar panel .
We will do also some outdoor tests as soon as possible , when my solar power generator arrives .

Alex. I have tested this panel in perfect sunlight. (clear sky, no shadow, 37c) The max output on the DC connector was 31 watts! It seems to be yet another example of suppliers 'hyping' their products. Lets see what you achieve.

So my normal testing in very good conditions is also @30 W , I only once saw 41W when the pannel was not yet hot .

I’ve tested mine in perfect sun haven’t seen watt output but it never charges an old iPad fully

@@jordankaymarkIIDREAMZII Interesting. Mine still works fine for short portable radio Ops. Keeps my 10Ah Lifepo4 Battery pack charged via its charge controller. I've moved on with Solar Jordan. I'm going to solar power my Ham Radio Shack. There will be some videos on my KZbin channel over the coming weeks and months. 73 Bruce G4ABX

The "type" of connection the DC adapter cable is using is called an SAE plug.

Hi, just bought one off Amazon UK. Question? If a car battery is 12 volts and the DC output barrel connecter gives out 19 volts would it not damage the car battery? My panel had a 18v ,2Amp ,36Watt switched mains power adapter in the box. Not sure why this is supplied , will come in handy for other equipment I have .

That is a fair question , from what I know you should not charge the car battery more then 14V , if you are able to monitor this should work , but is better to study more before doing this . I have a car battery that I can do some testing on , will try it out to see what happens , as this has a charge controller build in maybe it will recognise the battery . Normally you don't want high voltage because of the current that comes with it , but in this case with @30W power I don't thinks this should be an issue . Let's hope somebody else more experienced can leave us another feedback as well

Hi , I replyed to your other message but shortly you can conect it directly , but I think you can charge something only if the laptop is not powered on as you may get max @30W out of it . If you have a really low powered laptop you may get away with it . If not check my other comment , I advise you use a big battery .

Hi Alex Did you try to charge your laptop with this panel? I mean direct connection, without accumulator or other devices in between Also, do you think this can charge an e-bike? Normally e-bikes have 36-48V chargers, it's a shame manifacturers dont put a solar panel-in jack on the bike batteries (like there is on solar accumulators), this should be actually forced by law to ease clean energy usage instead of home AC power, often generated with fossil fuels 🙄 I guess you need a step up / boost converter to charge e-bike Thanks for the nice video.

I tried hooking up directly a dell laptop and it worked , but I would still sugent to have a powerbank in between amzn.to/3MFds8F , as this is only 19V you would most likely struggle to charge a ebike but you could do it with this power bank amzn.to/3MJNocs

I tested the usb c , it gives on my android phone at least two amps (using Ampere app) , I wait now for the testing gear to arrive as I can not exactly measure otherweise , and without measurements I can only say that it works . Also tried recharging the solar generator and it works , but for the review I want to be able to give precise numbers

Why having a big 63W panel when most of the outputs ports are arbitrarily limited to 15W. That's stupid. Still waiting for a decent product with USB-C PD 45W output.

most of the time you need to use a power bank in between anyhow , and many have this dc plug that you ca use

@@constantech4342 Hmm power banks with DC plugs? Do you mean power stations? Because anything bigger then a normal powerbank is not an options for many use cases (hiking, bikebacking, etc..). Oh.. you must mean a DC plug on the panel. The ultra portable don't have DC plugs. Those that have DC plugs are too big for above activities...

@@Kiev-en-3-jours This 63W pannel has a DC Plug , and you can also see on my channel a compact enough power bank that also has a DC plug , belive me I would also like to have the PD directly , but for some reason we don't see this and I think it has to do with the fact that PD needs a constant power , and with solar pannels you can not guaranty a constant power , as there would be clouds now and then an so on kzbin.info/www/bejne/sGaQZYyqi62Bo8k
