Pete, I'm so impressed how you know your business so well that you can bob and weave as your market changes. A few months ago you were reducing your pig/pork production. You've seen a need in the pig market, and bam, now your making changes. I just love to see your versatility.

Are used to have about 40 sows myself furrowed them in my dad's old 10 pen farrowing house that we shoveled out every day and added new bedding. Got out of the business about 20 years ago but always considered building a hoop barn farrowing house and then a hoop barn finishing facility like what you're doing. I would build them with an aisle down the middle to clean the manure out with a tractor or skid steer.

and this is why we really need small farmers. The personal relationship this man has with his animals is amazing, he says hello to the cows and they answer him. He also gave them names and not just numbers, I love it so much

So glad to see the deep bedding coming on! Lotta pigs get fed out on that in the winter. Hoping you can find some avenues to hold those feed costs down! When I was a 4-Her in TN, we milked a couple of cows every morning. With a big state-wide show coming on, my Granddad was afraid my barrows weren't gonna make the minimum weight so we started mixing the Jersey milk with their feed. I reckon they got in high gear and didn't stop until the judge from the University slapped my Duroc on the rump and said pin the champion ribbon on him! I was and still am so glad for my grandfather. It was his victory way yonder more than mine and one we both reveled in at the time, but with all that dairying around you.....

I have lived in a rural and farm country most of my life, and don’t like living in a city. I was raised in Dairy Country, in Northeastern NY state, and watched 80% of the farms I grew up with, are no longer around. It is very sad to see this, and now near 70, I wish things were different for farmers.

I started watching and subscribed to your channel when the you put the little pigs in the jungle last summer. It's incredible how fast they grow and how they ate every green leaf in the outdoor pen. My nephews raised pigs to show at 4h , that was the best pork I've ever had.

JJ is a real character..You can just tell he was really worked with as a youngster. His curiosity in sniffing everything and his playing with the gate. Seems Red is really interested in "the new guy" showing off with a mouth full of hay...Can't wait to see the barn and the pig-palace pens and how your feeder pigs turn out. I'm sure they will be great pigs with the work you are putting into it all.
