I remember BigBoy Hobbies used to advertise in the back of Model Railroad Craftsman and a couple other of the trade magazines at least 30 yrs. ago. So I called them from the Interstate at Grandma’s/Race Track truck stop and asked ‘can I get a tractor trailer into your parking lot’? He’s like yeah, why not? I used to stop every time I’d go through headed the California. Fill the sleeper up with kits and head on out. I am so glad to hear they are still open. If they ever close up, it truly will be the end of an era.

@SOU69003 жыл бұрын
@@THROTTLEPOWER I know. Now the only decent one left in the state that I know of is in Spencer next to the North Carolina Transportation Museum, but it's not really worth the drive for me to drive what's probably almost 2 hours to get there. So now that I'm back buying HO stuff again it's mostly coming from Train World's website, which kinda sucks because I like to see the product first hand before I decide to buy it or not. As for the shop the guy closed up because he couldn't really compete with Amazon I guess. The layout was probably trashed because the new owners wouldn't let the layout stay.

There is down in Australia several that are fully stocked with model kits (cars, trains, planes, tanks, Gundam,, ). Slotcar, Lego, and a lot of RC cars trucks.. some have more others have less . Some of the shops have joined forces to be one so they have better buying power to keep their stock at good prices.. only one shop I know of that is like that old school toy shop covering all of those things then the hobby part of the shop with models and RC cars.. although the nearest hobby RC cars shop that was near me closed down .. it wasn't the most easiest to get there and find it was open (owner was doing work out the back testing nitro motors.. or something like that.. he lost money every time I or anyone else had the same inability to go in and buy stuff... There is another shop but it's a pain to get to via public transport .. but it's a half bottle shop (alcohol) and RC cars.. on the other half of the shop..

@@THROTTLEPOWER I run RC of various electric kinds.. and sizes.. as well as the Tamiya mini 4wd which is 1/32 scale I think.. but I put them in individual display cases... If wondering this video popped up in the KZbin promoting videos when I logged in. I always like to see different hobby shops..

It's still the same as back then! Kind of like going back in time when your there. How long has it been since you've gone there?

Maybe 10 years. I lived close to it then. I have no real hobby shops close. It might be worth the drive some time. He used to hold kits for me when I was short on cash . Always had great modeling trips. They had just started the train set up when I first went there …the sail boat in exact same place.

Nice hobby shop. What puzzles me is that they have a train set up in the front window and don't have model trains none that I saw in the video.

They were at one time HUGE into trains Jason. Over the years his train people have stopped coming in due to health (age) or have died off. There was so much work put into the train layout he just decided to keep it up. So now he carries more plastic in place of the trains along with some RC. I just posted a vid the other day of a hobby shop also in Indianapolis that has a HUGE train department. You might enjoy that vid!! 😉
