Big Boy Train 4014 - delayed 4 hrs due to truck/train wreck

The Big Boy 4014 Train made its way into Texas September 17 2024 although running 4 hours later than planned due to another train and truck incident that was traveling on the same tracks running in front of Big Boy 4014. This did NOT involve Big Boy 4014 other than causing delay to Big Boys schedule.
A Freight Train and a 18 wheeler apparently had a collision in Maud Texas which caused the delay to all trains traveling on that track. The Big Boy was delayed but did travel to its planned destinations running about 4 hours late and cutting its stops much shorter than planned.
The Big Boy 4014 is the only Big Boy Steam Locomotive in operation today, it was restored in 2019 for the 150 th Anniversary of the Transcontinental RailRoads completion. The Big Boy 4014 is about 132 feet long and weighs in about 1.2 MILLION pounds. The Train is hinged to help make turns with the track due to its length.
The Big Boy Train departed for the “Heartland of America Tour” on August 28 2024 from Cheyenne Wyoming, it will travel across 10 States. Beginning in Wyoming, it will also travel Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, MIssouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. The 8 week tour will end in October 2024.
