Hi John.. Never miss your vids pal and this is the best you have done to date. Not enough vids on here show anglers fishing tricky rivers. We can all catch fish at a commercial. RIVERS however different skill set, constant thinking, finite changes to tackle to encourage bites, never stop altering your gear to catch. Brilliant mate more of this pal please..... Regards IAN

A great video Jon, I love this peg but only seemed to catch Perch over there, decent 1lb plus fish and boy is it snaggy, I'm really surprised you didn't catch a Chub feeding like that, I must go again soon and try fishmeal 👍

Forty years ago when I used to fish the Trent, VDE Brasem powder along with brown crumb was the bait to use for bream fishing. The more Brasem you put in the better your catch rate. I remember Ivan Marks adding loads of brown sugar to his ground bait. Do you think it's fishmeal that has revolutionised modern ground bait or other things. At 2 minutes 07 you said Hey up like a proper Yorkshire man when you had a bite. Matt Godfrey would be proud of you.

The new packs of Brasem are now called caramel, I get the same scent into my ground bait by using a salted caramel food flavouring from the supermarket (about £1.30ish) much cheaper and it does the trick for me when bream fishing. Give it a go you may be surprised....

@@brianwelbourne9896 Hello Brian, I don't know if you will see this but here goes. All shops out of salted caramel flavour but mixed some caramel flavour with Chinese salt ( MSG ) so I will have to see how that goes. Could I ask a question of any one reading this. I mainly fish for F1's using the Waggler and Slow sinker all through the year and do quite well with 4mm hard pellets as hook and feed baits. I'm wanting to try adding some attraction or feeding stimulus to them. I have put them in ground bait as well as powdered Betaine, added F1 sweet and loads of other things without any noticeable effects that could be attributed to the additive. I can see additives working on static baits like the feeder or pole but my bait is always falling and down to 15 feet or so! The bites I get tend to be snatches even in winter on the slow sinker indicating a rapid taking of the bait giving no time for investigation to see if it tastes good enough to eat. Does any one have any ideas? if so please comment here. Sorry for hijacking your page Jon!

It allows you to keep line out the flow and maybe get away with a lighter feeder. Allows balance and drop backs when the feeder is dislodged.

Hi John , is this a day ticket stretch?
@STONEWALL148
@STONEWALL148 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's £3.00 a day or £40 for an annual card. The downside is the parking charge on the rec ground it's now £8.00 for 9 hours but £5 for 4 the council know just how to overcharge anglers. That peg is almost constantly fished during summer & autumn. Going into winter above the weir is a better choice when the boats start to quieten down there are very big bream opposite the theatre and there are good roach nets to be had around the ferry pegs on waggler or pole. Last week I had 3 decent Bream to 3lb with a load of skimmers and some decent Roach and Perch. A couple of weeks earlier, in between dodging the boats, I had 2 big Bream around 6lb & last season I had a catch of 12 big bream the smallest around 3lb & 2 around 8lb for about 60lb. You also have to get used to the audience there sometimes you attract 20 to 30 people

@@peterwilliams8122 No problem, also you might consider above Stratford there is the Lido stretch free parking still there. The lido is basically what it says a big almost lake-like area which is good when it floods the bottom area around the Swans neck is good for Roach & Chub in winter this is also Leamington run.
