Great commentary you two! The casual way that it slipped out in such a regular convo made it seem like he uses the word regularly. On another note, I thought the coverage of the incident on tonight's episode was strange. I was also shocked there was still an eviction after Luke's removal. And I had no idea Aaryn had a popular channel.

Yeah she does almost 350K. She got married and changed her last name so I think that helped a bit, but it's mind boggling. oh he used that word very casually and it felt like he uses it on the regular. The coverage was kinda strange, like they showed it (which was good) show the fall out (kicked out) and then a short conversation with the whole group, it felt like just the basics without any real commentary from Julie who I expected to say something to the viewers. Also Hisam didn't hear Luke say it? Please.... Why lie about that. His face had shock all over it, Cory straight up left the room and Hisam was hot on his tail to get out of there. - Jess

I think a reason why CVS does not put a no tolerance rule into the game, is because America has a race problem that has not been fixed. What I mean by that is our officials choose to put their head in the sand when it comes to inequities that people of color face. We are not having the proper conversations we need about race in America. So why would you expect a corporation to do better?

I’m so happy you guys addressed this. Too many try to skirt these issues. I’ve watched BB since season 1 but stopped for a few seasons because of the racism. I just wasn’t ok with supporting a show that gives racists a platform, profits off of them, and then claims innocence. I have since started back watching, but if he’s not removed from the game, I will have to boycott again. It’s sad to see how acceptable racism is to so many people. And I agree, regardless of any statements given, CBS is responsible.

I don't think it's just up to Jared. There were 3 house guests in the room with Luke, and we've seen in the past, all 3 will be judged later on how quickly they bring the info to the rest of the house. Especially if CBS doesn't act and Luke stays around for a few votes and Jared decided to bring this up later on if he was on the hot seat. I think the house could be irate at all of them for holding back if they don't let the house know right now and give them the opportunity to get rid of Luke quickly.

Hey guys always good getting your perspective. Reiley from the jump is playing much too hard and doing the same thing that caused Kristen to be on the block. What do you think about these rules. First few weeks better to be asked to be in an Alliance then to start one; only start an alliance as a reaction to another that you are not a part of; and better to be a good listener than talker. I love Bowie's and Izzey's position in the house and of course how can you not love Cirie. I think its a conundrum for CBS in terms of race relationship. With so many cameras and contestants after a while become more relax, their normal, routine tendencies will eventually surface. It's hard to believe that these contestants are not forewarned about prohibited behavior however eventually your true self surfaces. For the same reason Aaryn has such a huge following, we see these behavior make their way into the bb house. I am just so glad that it is not a person of color making race an issue because when we talk about it, it becomes an issue of "playing the race card" in stead of reacting to something that already exists in the house whether it is blatant or latent. I do agree with you in that I really do not want to deal with another redemption story where the black contestants are angered, then enlighten, then embrace a houseguest that have been living in a cave for the last decade of big brother.

I think if you are a decent enough player, you can handle being the first HoH, but I do think in general you're right -- I wouldn't want to be the one starting an alliance that early! Better to lay low. I am glad that Luke is gone -- I know that they supposedly go through the rules and have some sort of training, but yeah, that behavior still comes true with certain people. Hopefully, this is a precedent that the producers will stick with moving forward. -Matt

Ask a black person, I do think something needs to be done but I'm not going to go as far as get rid of him immediately. I think everybody deserves 2nd chances and he definitely should be at least pulled into the diary room and be counciled to and then if it happens again, let him go. Another thing I noticed is even in the area I live, people outside of the race within the younger generations say it like it's part of their everyday language. I've heard white people say it to other white people in casual conversation but a lot of white people don't have black friends consistently throughout their life to let them know what's good and bad, what's racist and what's not. They only know their side. And that's why I said I don't think he deserve to be eliminated right away. i'm from the uk but have been watching big brother usa for a while this is the first year i've been able to use a vpn to fully watch the live streams I literally gasped when i heard what was said. I’m not defending what Luke said, but to be fair, the way he said the word didn’t come off as hate. He said it as a replacement for the words “bro” and “dude.” He probably has black friends who are fine with him saying it. Obviously he is wrong, but I don’t think that it’s as big of a deal as some people feel it is. I say production should let Jared choose if he wants Luke expelled. I do agree with you though, they should have something in the contract saying that you’ll get kicked from the game if you say something like that. It would only help.

@@dlc8506 Him casually saying it is wrong, but I don’t think that it makes him racist. I don’t say the n-word or anything like that, but I have friends of different races who say stuff all of the time that some would consider racist, and none of us care. Even whenever someone makes a racist joke about one of our friends. It’s just how our friend group is. I don’t think it’s a reach to say that Luke probably comes from a similar friend group of people who just say whatever and don’t care. He should’ve known before coming onto the show that that isn’t how everybody is, and he shouldn’t say that kind of stuff, but I don’t think that there is as much to it as a lot of people want to believe there is.

Racism has always been a part of the big brother experiment. From the very first season we had the Black Panther guy in the house fighting with Britney. The purpose of the show is to have people from all walks of life, all types of backgrounds, ages, religions and thought processes. Put them all in a house and see how they interact. It is up to the houseguests to decide who goes and who stays. Racism, unfortunately, is a part of life and the BB house is a microcosm of life. We all complain about how boring the cast and seasons can get but then complains anytime anyone or thing problematic happens that could actually spice up the season. Just let things unfold naturally. The houseguests will evict when they decide he is a problem.

Yeah. I’ve been dealing with a lot of this stuff at work for the past few months. A lot of homophobic and racist comments being made out in the open right in front of me when they know I am gay and it makes for a very uncomfortable experience. I actually just had to go to my manager about it. I’m going to retract that statement. In the past, watching homophobic and racist comments on BB has made for a very uncomfortable watching experience and just bc it was allowed in the past doesn’t mean it should be now. Too much is happening in the world right now. It’s dangerous to normalize things like this.

Random question. If 2 people of the same race called each other a racial name should they be kicked off? What about calling someone a b name? To me all of the above should be removed if that happens.
