Absolutely. After watching this show I can’t hardly stand watching the others. They whoop and holler like they won the super bowl. I know when I get something I have to teach myself how to breathe again. Just seeing the faces of some of Steve’s guest and friend show the truth and awe in their reactions. The other great part of this show shows the process from hunting for, killing, dressing the animal out , processing and preparing for a meal. We need more of these

i grew up hunting with my dad. I was 5 when i killed my first squirrel and 9 when i killed my first deer and i got her with a bow from walmart lol. i miss so much going to the land and setting up the camper. I miss the breakfast my dad would cook before we went out. i miss everything about it. My dad raising me the way he did is the best thing that he ever did for me. I lost him in 2015 and i miss him dearly. What he did for me set me up for success in life. Hunting taught me responsibility, respect and most of to be appreciative for the things i have. boy do i miss those days!!

If you dont have family in mexico here are some tips Tips on traveling to mexico 1 do your reasearch on where youre going to travel 2 hire a guide with GOOD ratings 3 Dont drive through mexico if you dont have to You fly there. 4 (goes for everywhere you go not just mexico) Always carry cash no more than 100$ Just incase you come accross the wrong person you have something to give and they will more than likely let you go. 5 Be friendly and respect people. Steve just has a way of putting into words what *almost* all hunters truly feel. It’s great to see all the massive deer and stuff other TV hunters harvest, but the REAL hunt and struggle of getting into the right place to actually get a shot is what sets Meat Eater apart from the rest.

I saw one guy go on a private land guided hunt that had like 4 deer picked out for him to shoot and he sat in blinds and shot who they told him to...then did the same for pronghorn in the same episode for like a total of 6-7 dead animals. Whole show was just kill shots and it urked me pretty good...can't stand that. I also love that Steve shows at least part of the gutting and butchering process in every episode because it also helps to make it about more than just a kill...it shows his care for the animal and that it's about his quest for food.

After almost 60 years of hunting muleys which is my favorite to hunt as well, two things affect the taste of the meat! One, what the animals has been living on or eating and two, the person gutting and cutting up the meat! I have never, repeat never tasted a wild animal that eat proper grasses and was cut up properly. When I was a kid my family lived on wild meat only for our meat for the 3 meals a day beside vegetables and potatoes so I have had some meat that say the least was gamey and most of the time it was who cut or prepared the meat and not the animal it’s self. That being said there is still nothing better then a fresh game animal steak with some onions and potato’s in the morning or for that matter anytime!

An old timer years ago told me that the "gamey flavor of venison came from the bones" I began boning my deer before cooking or freezing , and have found that to be true. It tastes like lean beef!! The biggest, gnarliest old buck if cared for and cooked properly can be rendered into as tender a meal as a yearling. I have been hunting , butchering and enjoying great deer meat for 55 years now. Your videos are outstanding !! I love to watch you cook your game. Many great recipes. Keep'em coming ! P.S. I love fresh raw deer liver ! Regards Craig.

I live in Colorado Springs right up against the front range. My neighborhood is suburban in nature. Curbs and sidewalks. We have roaming herds of mule deer. I have a buck walk through my yard every day that would be the trophy of a lifetime for almost any hunter. I once had a 16 point buck holding court during the rut in my yard. He had as many as 17 doe's waiting their turn at one point.

Years ago in western Colorado my brother and I were in the right place at the right time. When luck crosses hard work and two giant bucks crossed our path. I missed one and my brother hit the other one. It dressed out at 475 pounds. The rack was 39 inches wide, with a standard 6 forks and each sidd but there was a 2 inch point facing inward at each fork. 9 tips on each side. Truely the buck of a life time.

Huge Muley's do exist, and are available to those that pay the dues, much the same a a Huge Musky......I believe that 10000 hours/miles on foot, in remote areas, glassing and waiting.......is not unreal, but much the same as quarantine, your time starts over each trip.............Good Luck.

As someone who is more of an avid fisherman more than hunter I still understood that look for "THE ONE" maybe a 10 pound large mouth or a 30" trout from the coast every outdoorsman has there hunt for "THE ONE."

You can't generalize that mulies are gamier than other game animals though. Shoot one in a forested area and one in a sage area and you'll probably see a huge difference. I hunt in central BC in the mountains and the quality is up there with any game animal imho. Pretty much zero gaminess too.

I’ve shot some good size mule deer and they have tasted good enough to serve the whole family for a festive feast. I’ve never had a bad tasting deer that I’ve shot.
