@@jeremyb5198 really? Cuz last time I checked any human can make a mistake. I get what happened and why it happened, sometimes you shoot and suddenly doubt yourself, you're terrified that animal will suffer and you know if it gets away and you don't find it then you've killed it for nothing. Personally I'd rather take that risk than kill an animal for no reason. I'm betting Steve felt the same.
@jeremyk5414
@jeremyk5414 3 жыл бұрын
@@randysparks1271 I honestly believe that he just made an excited mistake. I did the same after a bull elk in 2015 in Oregon thinking it was down and ended up jumping it back up in thick reprod timber doing a pointless chase across country and literally ruining most of the meat on an animal pushing it until it died not to mention putting myself way of course in the dark I messed up and knew better. We all make mistakes especially when we’re excited or even worse impatient 😂

Man, the amount of endurance, stamina and strength these guys have to go on what are sometimes week-long hunting/camping trips is incredible to me. I mean, they’re hauling all that gear that must be at least 60 or 70 pounds (not to mention when they get a several-hundred-pound animal that they then must drag all the way back to camp) up and down mountains and rough terrain all day long for several days, and they make it look easy. I’d be dead after a few hours of that lol

Really enjoyed this video as I do most of what you guys produce. This one was special as it brought back the memories of my own Moose hunt back in 1968. I'd gone to Alaska to see it before I got drafted for Vietnam. I found a job in construction in Fairbanks, went fly fishing a lot on my time off and in the fall went Moose hunting up Birch Creek just a little bit south of Circle , Alaska. Two guys I met at work had a 18ft aluminum jon boat with a motor that could be lifted up almost out of the water to get over the shallow spots. After a long slow 2 day ride upstream a bull jumped up from lying down on the bank in front off us about 150 yards away. All three of us fired as quick as we could but on my second shot I shot him in the neck with my '06 and down he went. Lordy, what a butchering job that was. He was like butchering out a full grown Bramah bull. This is where our stories connected.....The butchering. I took all three of us to gut, skin, quarter and carry the quarters to the boat. Thank goodness it wasn't far. This bull was about the size of yours, you can't eat the horns......but gee what a pile of meat!!

I like how he say along for the ride when ole Cal is the guy running the boat. Looks like Steve was the one along for the ride. Been waiting for this episode though!

If you've not eaten wild game in the field, add that to your list. Truly visceral.

Thanks to you boys I now only hunt public grounds. And we try to only eat game meats. Health wise has completely turned my life around. As well as the success of my hunts now. Thanks for making it and keeping it " real" for those of us that still believe in putting in the work. And the earning of our game.

Oh and the bone marrow... This exact episode derived an extended love for hunting/fishing in regards to the food aspect of it. Man.. to say I'm a fan of these guys and all they do, is a huge understatement.

Binging on these episodes lately has been refreshing. I grew up fishing and hunting and have since left it behind due to getting older and having more responsibilities. I am proud to say I am going squirrel hunting this weekend. We should see a lot, but I'll just be happy walking in the woods.

I grew up in that area. In the caribou range in Crescent spur, bc. Took mountain goat, moose, deer, bear and 1 caribou when I lived there. Great memories.

Haha as a river guide, both drift boat and raft, I loved watching Cal do some things right, and some things wrong and then laughing at myself for doing all those things too at points. Guide life, hunting, fishing, hiking, climbing, river or whitewater or whatever. We're all just faking it with some skill and luck and far to much confidence. 😂 Like life, we're just trying to make it to the end and enjoy the bits in between.
