Wow, I love the character in that walnut! I cant wait to see what that top is going to be like! Nice tip on working the board with a saw if you dont have a jointer. That was my method for some time.

Quick question...how are you able to get one side flat via planer if you don’t have a jointer to flatten one side of the walnut first.

I've seen some people use a jointer to flatten a side first (especially on thicker wood), but I don't think that's standard practice. In high school shop class, we always used the planer to flatten the boards.

You don’t plane until after you joint one face. Planing doesn’t flatten the board.

You didn’t make anything straight on the table saw. You would need a straight edge sled to attach the board to and send the whole sled and board through the saw.
