It’s crazy that ocelots were named after jaguaretes. By jaguarete, I mean the “jaguar” aka Panthera onca. Yes, the word ocelot came from ocelotl, which is Nahuatl (it was spoken by the Aztecs) for jaguarete. Can you believe that?

@@DailyBigCat You’re welcome. By the way, jaguarete came from yaguarete, which is Panthera onca’s Tupi-Guarani and it means true beast. Yes, yaguara, which is Tupi-Guarani for any carnivorous beast, is the root of the word jaguar.
