When i was a kid in the 70's my dad had a Ocelot he got from a friend of his before i was born. It was a great cat. Before you consider one as a pet I will tell you the shit that those cats produce has the nastiest smell shit could have. He kept it in the basement and so it would crap down there and everyone could smell it. It was horrible. I remember we had a regular domesticated cat too and we did keep them separated but when the ocelot saw the other cat she would chase her and that cat would jump on the kitchen counter then to the top of the refridge to avoid being caught. A couple times she'd bypass the counter and jump to the top of the refridge from the floor. That ocelot certainly would have made a killing if she ever caught her. She never did.
@bradprice8040Ай бұрын
If the ocelot never caught and killed it then it didn't want to. There wouldn't be anywhere a house cat could go that the ocelot couldn't.
@vincebaker2754Ай бұрын
@@bradprice8040 So you're telling me how the cat reacts when I am the one that lived with it. The ocelot never went to the top of the refridge. It was a safe zone for the cat. Another get away spot the cat had was behind the stove. No room for ocelot between stove and wall.
@bradprice8040Ай бұрын
@@vincebaker2754 are you telling me the ocelot couldn't reach the top of the fridge if it wanted to really harm the cat? That it wouldn't get as close to the cat behind the stove as it could and then claw, scream and scratch of it were truly after the cat? Get real. If the ocelot wanted to harm the cat then your cat would have been dead.

@@bradprice8040 You're coming off as a dick. I'm the one that f*cking lived it and experienced it. You have no clue to the layout of the house I was in or the equipment in it. You have probably never even touched a ocelot let alone live with one. There was no room for the ocelot to get behind the stove or jump on the refridge. If you can't accept that then go F yourself. Dwindling population. Now, can we stop "fixing" every stray found outdoors? Otherwise cats in general will also become endangered.
@jahmocha95423 жыл бұрын
There's a big difference between a wild cat species and a domestic cat, dude. Housecats aren't going extinct any time soon. And feral housecats are a very destructive invasive species, so they should be prevented from breeding as much as possible.
@12Prophet3 жыл бұрын
Then by the same logic, we should sterilize the human homeless population. Nothing says we care about something quite like "Nah, just cut his balls off and drop him off somewhere." So much compassion and love. Edit: not just the homeless, since even the domesticated humans are just as invasive and destructive.
@Panda-Paku3 жыл бұрын
@@12Prophet As unfortunate our position is as humans, we are as much capable of helping the ecosystem as we are with destroying it, for that very reason we are trying to reduce the stray cat population. Stray cats have, as a mistake on our part, been introduced as new predators to the American ecosystem as they kill birds and small animals endemic to this part of the world. If we allow these strays to breed uncontrollably, we can see a sharp decrease in animal populations, risking endangerment or extinction. We love our furry friends and it’s understandable that we wouldn’t want them to get hurt, but we also have to realize the impact they can cause to the environment if left unchecked.
@12Prophet3 жыл бұрын
@@Panda-Paku *sigh* All that taken into account, I still don't think sterilizing every single cat that's found will be a good thing. I have faith in nature, not humans. I know there are humans that mean well... But I fail to see how sterilizing a species will pan out as a good thing. Naturally I don't want any species to go extinct, and I really don't like the notion of sacrificing one (again, every single stray that's captured, as well as domesticated ones) to save other species. It's just immoral. Cats are predators. They are meant to hunt. I bet everyone would feel very differently if the animals could speak our own language. I just see it as cruelty, plain and simple. My little ones will never have kittens because of this stupid trend. They'll never get to be mothers. I promise I'm not meaning to sound rude about all this. But my mind can't be changed on this. I think it's sick and twisted. Truly. And I feel that way toward all animals that have the chance for offspring stolen from them. Their robbed of a main driving force in life. Thousands of generations, and now it ends with them. It's nothing but saddening.
@12Prophet3 жыл бұрын
@@BackyardGuillotine Let me get this straight so I don't assume incorrectly... Is it your belief that animals do not care whether or not they have offspring? It would be quite an arrogant thing considering humans can only go by inferring from the animals body language and context. We can't directly ask them and understand a response. But to assume that they do not care about having offspring would be the exact type of arrogance that I can't stand about most humans. It's the same type of "point" that overzealous religious types use to describe animals. That humans are completely different, and therefore share none of nature's traits with animals. Animals hurt, long for and suffer just as we humans do. To call that projection is only justifying my lost faith in humanity. So I hope that I misunderstood what you meant.
