Trackers are a mass of practicality; in the land of KATANA, Japan has the NATA, the world's best chopping performance. Existing knives should not be able to make efficient grooves, chop wood, or make feather sticks. Hence, it is a very useful design for practical knife lovers. A real knife, like the Parang.I'm a fan of your report and EDT should clear my table too lol

I would have liked to have seen how well the saw teeth work. Personally, I think saw teeth on a blade is a gimmick since the First Blood movie came out. I'm not sure about the design of this or the original. It's trying to be too many things. The recurve area, while useful, shortens the usable edge for batoning. As far as keeping a purchase while chopping with this one, I'd use a lanyard and go over the thumb and then around the hand. This pulls the handle into your palm tightly and allows for a further back grip. It also stops the blade dropping should it fly out of you hand. Good review mate!

Thanks for the comment! The Russon tracker predates Rambo First Blood by one year! For the Saw back, the Big Cat Roar has a better one than the Russon. It is tapered and thus more effective. I personally would not wrist wrap a large knife with a lanyard as it is dangerous if it slips. I favour a Pinky lanyard that offers the same benefit but is much safer.

@urbanknifeguy. Hi,and the Randall model 18 predates both by over 10 yrs.. That's the knife that Stallone wanted in the movie but didn't get and then went to Jimmy Lile to make one based on the model 18 but longer and other modifications.The history about this is so pathetically easy to find here on KZbin.Any who all the best to you and your family.

Which is better quality the Russon or the Tops. Which holds a better edge. Which has better slicing geometry and which has better chopping geometry.

I could not tell you as I am not buying a Tops tracker out of principle as it is a stolen design. But honestly, if you ask me. I think Tops will fulfil your requirements better..

This is the only real good identical copy of the tracker k ife and its actual d2 steel not just named "D2 steel Knife " by warivo who uses 8cr13mov .

I found that the D2 steel is not very good. I like 1095 steel better. Also I think the design is gimmicky with no real practicality. Good video.

Haha thanks! If designed and made correctly, I believe it has virtue as a one-tool option. So far, all the trackers I have do not meet these requirements completely.

2:55 - this wil save your life! No NOT the sharpening stone but my comment.... You'd have more luck waiting for the fake protestant rapture or the tactical swedish bikini team decending from helicopters to save your wilderness survival epic fail than trying to sharpen D2 steel with a stone that's not probably made of pure diamond that you could have sold to avoid having to survive like Rambo in book of Eli in the first place..... Somebody out there is very welcome 👍🏻

Thanks for your comment. To give people reading this comment more nuance and context. As D2 is a hard steel with good edge retention, it is also harder to sharpen than a softer steel. If the blade is in tact and just needs for the edge to be honed, regular stones can work reasonable well. However, if the edge is chipped or has burrs, then it will take a lot of work to get them out and reprofile the edge. Diamond plate would be needed to save time and effort, and preferably on a system. Hence, my overall comment of generally not liking D2 as a field knife.

@@urbanknifeguy - right? Thank U Boss! D2 as a field knife could be a nightmare.... I just bought a ceramic file that seems like it just made it dull but I've been told I've made other blades "murder sharp"
