These are images of what we believe to be a melanistic leopards , on four different occasions whilst travelling through their territory. The first image to appear was the tail of which we have included a zoomed in image. The next visit was a side profile which enabled us to approximate one animals height at the shoulder (24-26 inches) .The third occasion shows the cat crouched on the floor snacking on maybe a pigeon? or squirrel both are plentiful here, not sure.Last but not least is a burst of three images showing the cat bounding off the track landing and sitting(please note on this image both the cats head and tail are visible, with the tail curling over like a shepherds crook between the two stems level with the head.) Then off behind some vegetation moving away.We have rounded this off with a few over-layed images showing other mammals for comparison ,these include a badger,a fox, a domestic cat, and a roe buck. enjoy.N.B we said stems because they are only small in compared to others but are well established . we are not experts.zoomed image of the tail shows promising markings.the full side profile also shows similar markings when zoomed in however it's hard to show without scribbling all over it. enjoy.

they are overlays, putting other animals up for size comparison seems more natural than a tape measure or a grid type frame . just remember father ted ,,,,atb

How come it never moved for about 10 different shots?

cheers for asking , we have include some images of other animals caught on the same camera that have been overlayed to try and give some size perspective , as we know from father ted , things get smaller the further away they are. each animal is recognisable easily and all of them would be get slightly smaller if they walked where the cat does. we feel using this nature is a better way of scaling than man made gadgets.

Well that dispels any doubt. 'Bout time an expert got onto the job. Next project could be un-pesking Nessie or proving the Scottish Bigfoot is not so rare and elusive as some sad sceptics assert. The photo interpretation skills are up there

@@marionsadventuresincameraland. It's a fascinating topic, & finite chance exists that the occasional one has existed out of captivity (but ex-captivity). The disciples show that human attraction to rubbish & fabrication aren't limited to the fanatics brown-nosing the likes of a well known ex US President. The bulk stupidity does detract from the occasional potentially valid reports. If they are around the evidence is clear, and getting good photos on trail camera is not difficult, even TV documentary makers can do it & locate uncommon animals. Technique & knowledge will improve the chances of success. And learning what a common moggy looks like. Practicing getting photos of what's crapping in the arden wold be good training

cheers for your input oh wise one, maybe you could get up here and show us how it's done. just to give you a little insight although you probably don't need it t.v documentary makers take months and years to catch rare and illusive creatures in the wild with thousands of pounds of equipment usually with there source being locals to where the reports are . getting a wild animal to walk past a camera is not simple and easy it takes hours and hours of walking looking for field signs to give reason to place a camera and if that animal passes that part of its territory as frequently as monthly there is no guarantee it will pass the camera. as for training try looking at the channel we are more than use to scaling animal sizes , and finding the field signs . atb.

@@marionsadventuresincameraland.Anthropomorphic compositions and reality TV episodes seem the theme of many wildlife programs. Big cats are easy to locate, even the TV crowd can find them with their actors. But if sound biology is followed, so could the youtube sleuth. Cats are territorial. Their scent marks are irresistable. So is scavenging. Simply by covering oneself with cat urine and making a noise like a meat carcass they'll come to you for a selfie. That's ok

thankyou , your first sentence i agree, your second not so much but i think i get what your saying ,then... we are not you tube sleuth's , we are however a couple who have invested a lot of time , effort and expense starting back in 2011/2012 researching a topic that i was skeptical about even though i had grown up like my wife hearing stories of big black cats in the local area ,not the news but regular people.....no DA or RM or RM or president's . we were good at it , big headed or not we were , we spent 50 odd hours a week in the field walking 85 miles some weeks.. the " Experts" have been all over some of what we have found .after a tragic accident in late 2016 our ability to get out became lets say restricted . this gave the experts just what they wanted or so they thought,,,, this is our way of making sure that we,( who don't fit into" their " idea of what someone discussing the subject should look like and sound like) secure evidence from locations that we've found as our evidence . we have had some good images and always kept locations on a need to know basis but others now want to claim these locations and do this by sneaking celebs in and showing them around thinking cause you can't walk then your cameras don't work , sorry to rant , everything else i also agree , in our defense we would have had better images by now had i not lost my lower leg in 2020, at least now i'll have live bait just can't find anyone to record it .thanks for your comments atb
