The crew should have better rooms that they do on most ships/boats because they usually live on the boat longer than anyone else does and from what I’ve seen their work schedules can be pretty long and erratic depending on the guests and owners needs. If someone is building a big boat and spending that much money already it doesn’t hurt to provide their crew with a little comfort. Trust me it will keep that crew very happy and loyal as long as the owners they are working for are good people as well. With a good, happy and extremely loyal crew comes an extremely efficient and well operated ship/boat.
@P-J-W-777
@P-J-W-777 Жыл бұрын
@mikecollon100 actually a lot of the crew that I have met have pretty nice bank accounts and that due to them living on the boat so i wouldn’t say they were living paycheck to paycheck. I do agree with the fact the richer you are the bigger and fancier your accommodations become. People seem to think slavery is over but it isn’t. Slaves are just paid now and not all that well either. You even said it yourself (The Help) Just the modern way to say slave. Just like we have to use the term little people or mentally challenged instead of the previously used terms. Business executives get all the privileges and perks with the job as well as really really fat salaries and usually even bigger bonuses when half their bonuses could be filtered down to the employees that actually do the hard work which would keep them extremely happy and very loyal. Take the military for example. The officers get much better quarters, they have their own clubs and in naval ships the junior officers have their own cooks and dining room and the captain and admiral has their own cooks and dining room. They are served much better and higher quality food. The enlisted get bunks and in some situations have to share bunks and they all eat in the same dining room. It’s a hierarchy of I’m better and more important than you. So yeah I’ve seen life and experienced it from both sides. This world could be a much better place if we were to dissolve those ways but I agree with you in that it will never change.

You are truly difficult when you change the location of a door that is already cut. Baaaaad girl ! But you only get what you ask for so you do what you really want. The Bering team is great in their flexibility. I like the conversion of a crew bed to a double. It make life aboard much better for a couple.

Boats always look so massive out of the water, once you launch you'll be wishing you had gone for a 90+ footer. In all likely hood you'll be upgrading in 4 years to a bigger Bering. What's surprising is the majority of yachts purchases over 100 feet do major refits on existing yachts rather than opt for a new build, this puts them on the water much faster. All fun and games, enjoy.

The quality of a yachting experience has more to do with the quality of the crew than it does with the quality of a yacht. To attract the highest possible crew quality for a given salary, it is VERY worth the while to consider all the other factors that affect the crew other than salary. Making sure you have the best possible crew accommodation and work areas will significantly improve the quality of crew you can attract. They aren't just being 'nice', they are being smart.

I don't know how I lost her channel, but it is not lost anymore. I love the six-person breakfast bar; perfect for me. Are they 'bar stool' seats? If so even better for my knees first thing after bed. Coffee and toast looking out the back of the boat. Can you see out the back from there? Or is the gally in the way? Either way is perfect; as long as the poor chef is not too disturbed from their day's work, I would hate to hold them back. I love your home and everyone at Bering. The moving table is just another thing that can be broken and that is a main area space, cant afford for it to have issues. The raised counter is much better, gives a prep work surface with some division. Much better setup... speaking as someone who has had a restaurant and has had quite a lot of guests in a more of a B&B setup. Also your attention to comfort for crew is lovely, nice having people who have been crew making a point for comfort.

When you build custom yachts, you’ve got to expect changes, handholding etc. Some things Bering can say yes to, others they will have to deny. It goes with the territory. If Bering were smart, they would build a certain amount of changes into the price. At a certain point they will have to start charging extra. It’s a fun process and a certain amount of accommodating is wise.

Having worked in the construction industry and running a construction company, there is nothing worse than clients changing their mind after they have SIGNED off on the contract. That's why a lot of builders build buildings first then sell to the public. It actually cost a lot of money for builders that are already running on a fine margin to constantly change construction decisions along the way. It's your job as the client to double check everything before you sign. In the construction industry you would be charged a variation fee every time you change something as it does create a lot of extra work and to expect people to do it for nothing is inconsiderate to the builder, who are already working hard to make your dream come true. To make one change there can have another effect on another part of the build.

I’m a bit worried about the lack of indoor dining for when the weather is less than perfect. You’ve got a huge saloon but are only really using half of the space for a seating area when you could be using all of it and have a dining table that converts to a lounge area as well as a separate seating area in that space. Have a look at a few other yacht designs in the 60 to 100 ft class for inspiration, or just allow the Bering interior designers to do their job and come up with some suggestions.

I really like the new Galley counter top by Rico--BUT--I feel you will find on a boat this size and the way you intend to use it--that raised counter top should be for "family style" serving. IMO you need a long skinny table that runs just behind the counter top for seating only. Underway or in ruff weather people will not want to sit on the aft deck nor the flybridge. Taking food up to the flybridge has always been a hassle IMO.

There seems to be a fairly empty space between the galley and the couch/dining area. Is that because of the drop down tv? You could put in a proper av cabinet with a lift, and gain more storage on the galley side. With the tv lowered in the cabinet you would still be connected with those near or in the galley. Can’t have too much storage.

Have you always been certified for a vessel this large or is that some thing that you have recently done or need to do? I’m interested in learning more about the different levels of being a captain in the size of the vessels if that makes sense.

A little off topic, do you think there will be an opportunity to tour the SilverCat 36m? I know only the first hull is out and two more are in the works but I would love to see a detailed walkthrough.

I hope you’re documenting the whole build time. I’m really curious to know how long it takes to build one of these. It’s really interesting to see how fast the shell fills up with stuff so fast.

Curious as to what the cost will be for chartering when you’re complete also how to connect with your charter do you have a link? Are you starting a new company or are you charging through someone?

When are we going to get a Bering 80 walk through? It seems like a popular model for them and I’m sure many other of your subscribers are interested as well.

The TV issue is an interesting topic. I've watched a majority of your videos and in almost every boat you've toured, I've only seen drop-down and pop-up TVs. I think I've only seen a projector in maybe two videos and one of those was a dedicated theater. Why aren't projector TVs more popular on boats? Given the space constraints of a boat, I would think think projectors would be more common. I also don't own a boat so I may be missing out on some key information. Have you thought about a short-throw laser projector or even a LED projector instead of a drop-down LED/OLED TV?

If you have a table just off the counter top, I would widen and round out the surface to set the food up so folks can serve themselves and then sit at the table. I have two kitchens with counters similar and never has anyone sat at it to eat.

if you have a sliding door next to where you want to move that other door to, then why have that other door since right next to it is a sliding door??

Because I'd been involved in civil engineering steework I expected things to be complex & evolving. But it's fantastic to see the internal architecture of the spaces develop like this. Ergonomics of even smaller features is still fluid a lot later than I expected. Can you start to see it in your minds eye when you close your eyes?

Kitchen Bar looks OK ;) consulting crew chef is a must IMO ! Question? Where u all will dine, in case there will be cold outside, or too hot? suggesting to bring back free standing dining table from the 1st variant of plan :) or some transformer table near the sofa. In my opinion have as much free standing furniture as possible, cause after 10 yr, u can easily replace them, with no need of capital interior renovation. Have ar much open space as possible, and transform it with free standing furniture (architects opinion ;) And get rid of that cabinet, blocking door from salone to cockpit, that placement is not great. You'll thank me later ;) They are so nice about changes, I think this is on camera only thought :) To understand about changes, (same in house construction too), what u see done, was designed some time ago, and on this piece is 100 more decisions made to present day, so even little change its like pulling bottom card from a house of cards - everything above collapse. Thats why is time limit to do changes :)

Hi, the crew cabin looks great but where are they going to eat? With respect to the door on the port side where you now want storage being moved round the corner, do you really need it if there is going to be a sliding door about 6 feet away from your new proposede position of the door, I get they may be serving a different purpose but it would save cutting another hole in the superstructure, which may make Vladimir happy!

The crew will make or break a guest experience, I do and I don't like working with certain people at my job, and it makes a difference in my attitude through out the day at the work place and my attitude when I go home, old saying happy wife happy life, works for this also. Happy crew happy paying customers. Vladimir is hilarious 0:43
