As a carpenter, I advise that you always need at least one glass sucker for safety and on a piece that heavy, two suckers should always be used. I have seen too many instances of broken glass during straight demolition and leaky house rebuilds, to go without. Even the professional gear is relatively cheap in these times. The job was safe and relatively easy because you guys did it the right way. 🙂 Please keep it up. The vehicle is looking very good.

Loving the content guys can't wait for final results... just a life hack iv seen putting windscreen and rubber back in run small rope around the inside of the rubber put windscreen hard against windo frame and pull 1 piece of rope on the inside and that should be enough to seet the rubber🤞

Its an older video, but did you know the german and turkish army actually have a swiveling arm mechanism for the gun outlook ? I am retrofitting one to my civil U1650. It lets the cover go up by 5 cm the it goes sideways by 90 degrees the it goes down to be locked. This way you can have a carrier on top, over it. It seems the cover is the same, handles and locks as well, so my bet is you could retrofit the arm to your car. They are hard to get, about 450 Euros / pce.
@TheOutFit
@TheOutFit 2 жыл бұрын
Very interesting. I had no idea! Sounds like an awesome retrofit. How did you go about getting one?
@CaSuMog

@@TheOutFit Hi Chris, I need a way to contact you via mail / is that possible ? I can then send pictures and a link to our site etc. We’ve been building our Mog for 8 months now. The archetype of travel outdoor unimogs in Europe I guess is the german army 1300L version, and this has the gun opening with the swivel mechanism, so hereover in germany it is normal to either have the cilivian cab / which features a central square 50x50 air vent opening, or an outside mounted AC block as optional extra, or the military cab with the gun opening with the swivel arm. Another option for civilian cars was a 10 cm higher roof. In fact I never saw the flipover version you have before … the Australian army seems to have saved a dollar or two there :-). My wife wanted to have the gun opening for photo purposes, but we had to buy a (rather rotten) cheap U1650, because military version became very sought-after and are expensive. So we decided to retrofit the gun opening, and I bought parts from ebay and wrecks and so on. There are german companies selling worldwide from parts cars, this is where I found the arm. The cover came from turkey, theres a company reproducing sheet metal and other stuff. The two small handles are crazy expensive when new, I found a set in Austria via ebay, together with the cloth insert plus the counterparts for the handles and the rubber ring. Will make the surrounding steel ring myself. Last months I did a lot of rot repair / both floors, underside beams, rear edges of the cabin. The cabins rot like hell when wet, do yourself a favor and use some cavity grease inside the main beams plus lower doors etc. / the factory seems to have put nothing inside. I saw welding marks in the floor near your driver door where you found the hole behind the rubber so they rot even in Australia.

A little late in commenting...word to the wise, cover all screw holes so the liner material does not get in the holes. If it does, your screw will not fit back into the hole. Also....anywhere you have a window that seals with rubber...avoid liner there. Otherwise, you will have all kinds of leak problems.

A couple years ago I had to have a chipped windshield changed. When the tech put his suction cups on and tested the seal, the windshield popped out and he about fell off the truck. Apparently the surface wasn’t prepped and the glue didn’t hold the glass on.
