We have a grand design imagine 2019 MKE17 . . Love the floor plan. This year we have had to deal with mice getting in. Some things could have been better . They really sold us on quality.

So the lower end Cougars may have more fit and finish issues. But the higher cost Cougars will usually be more consistently better made all around. Thanks for watching!

I am 80 years old and have certainly been "around the block " over many years of all types of RV ownership. And which has been the most reliable and enjoyable for me and my off road and boating pursuits? My 2010 model 2650 FR Sunseeker class C. Just don't understand why so many occasional campers buy enormous and problem prone RVs.

I appreciate hearing your opinion about GD, but do wish you had been more specific about what you saw and what they said that supports your confidence in them. Your statements were about as vague as they could be… I’m shopping for a toy hauler right now, strongly considering GD among others. All I know so far is that “mistakes were made” and that their warranties a longer and transferable. What did they fix in newer models? What should I be on the lookout for if I’m shopping used GD toy haulers?

I'm sorry you weren't pleased with this video. But my regular viewers know what I'm referring to when I say that I personally inspected new RVs at the show. I covered several of the things I look for in this video previously - kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZDPnmqapbZ0ppo But there are others as well. I simply don't have time to cover all the things I check on every RV that I inspect. If you feel that you can't trust a certified RV inspector to provide reliable information on an RV's overall build quality, you're free to look elsewhere.

Watch for the frame design used. Look for the Rhinobox Spacesaver frame. It is a newer design utilizing a massive header square tube crossmember compared to the #1621 style frames that have 2 thin 2x6 crossmembers. For example, the Momentum 415G has the new frame and is solid. Lippert reports the Rhinobox Spacesaver frame is 40% stronger than conventional.

I have a three year old GD 2600RB. It has the “4 season” package but no insulation in the forward storage area under the bed. I will be doing that myself. 😢

Why do they still use Lippert frames? If they have problems

Lippert actually does a very good job with frame building despite what you may hear online. In fact, they supply the frames for most of the towable manufacturers in business today, not just GD. Also, GD told me that the frames they have had trouble with were less than 1/10 of one percent of the RVs they sold. And I have heard that figure from other sources as well. So if changes have been made to avoid these issues in the future, I see no reason why Lippert shouldn't be their frame supplier.

It is past time to stop all the negativity in social media. To be honest I immediately had negative thoughts because it’s GD. I am working on my attitude because there is nothing to be gained from it. Instead let’s foster change and turn this ship around. Honestly I just completed a cross country trip and there were more Grand Design RV’s on the road than any other. So they must be doing something right. I just bought a Brinkley and love it, but I don’t want to judge anyone on their selection. Instead let’s make RVing great again and stop the bashing. If it works for you then great. We need to embrace the RV community and enjoy the life style and you can’t do that if you’re hating on others. Thank You Duane! This was a great video. On a side note that is one expensive RV, but who am I to talk. I bought a Brinkley 😂

I couldn't agree with you more Mike. It's healthy to have a certain amount of skepticism along with being critical to a point. It helps prevent us from being gullible and believing anything we hear. But criticism has risen to a whole new level in recent years, way beyond what is necessary. And social media allows every person with an opinion to go online and try to impress others by criticizing everything to death. Unfortunately, that leads to people being afraid to purchase products that may not be perfect but are built with a reasonable amount of quality. I specifically asked the GD reps about the frame issue. And as they pointed out, GD has stepped up with a 5 year warranty on all towable RV frames being retroactive to 2020. Not only that but they made the 5 year frame warranty transferrable from one owner to the next. You don't hear about that a lot from the RV influencers bashing GD. But there really isn't anyone else I know of with that kind of extensive frame warranty. As a result of that kind of commitment, I think you'll see the frame issues improve. You need to watch some of the RV maintenance channels on KZbin. Every 'negative' story of problems is documented with videos or pictures. You're to biased toward the manufactures.

As I've always said, everyone is entitled to their opinion. But on the other hand, just because someone has an opinion, that doesn't mean that I have to agree with it. And this channel's content is based on my certified knowledge as an RV inspector, my years of experience as a fulltime RVer and traveler, and the literally hundreds of new RVs that I personally inspect on a regular and constant basis. Now I could turn my channel into a real RV manufacturer's hate fest if I wanted to, by providing a constant diet of negative experiences that RV buyers have had. And if I did that, my channel subscriber base would most likely explode, because there are plenty of people these days who love content that appeals to the baser instincts of human behavior, along with negativity and controversy. But I feel that I would be doing the RVing community a real disservice by providing that kind of content. Because the truth is that there are millions of RV owners in this country and the vast majority of them are generally happy with their purchase, especially those who buy from the better brands. And although there are situations where the purchase of an RV becomes a poor buying experience and people are very dissatisfied with it, it is not the norm by a long shot. So I intend to focus on the truth on this channel and not hype that is being spread mainly for increasing advertising revenue from content that doesn't match the average RV buyer's experience. Now I don't know you personally. But from what you said in your comment you seem to be drawn to the negativity and drama that other online influencers put out about the RV industry. And that is your right to pursue that. So I recommend that you avoid my videos in the future, because I'm quite sure that they will only disappoint and irritate you further.
