Went from stage 1 2017 APR Mk7 GTI, to 2019 Mk7.5 Golf R, and now I am in a 2022 BMW M240i X drive. RWD based platform and a 400hp 6 cylinder are a much more pleasurable driving experience. I do miss the flexibility and usability of my R, but I will never go back to a FWD based/4 cylinder platform. Follow your heart my man.

I’m curious, when you shopped for a car after the R, did you consider a GTR? I have a ‘19 6 speed R and want a used GTR

Drove a 2015 GTR back in 2021. The car was stock and had low miles. Very clunky. The interior was awful. Not a great daily.

I sold my 2016 VW GTI stage 3 IS38, just shy of 400 WHP, Unicorn(2 door, no sunroof) and I regretted ever since. I bought a Jetta, sold that back in April and bought a one owner 31,000 mile 2016 4 door, DSG, APR Stage 2, DSG tune, car was immaculate condition and will again be going to Stage 3 in about 6 months. I also bout a MK5 Rabbit, 5 cylinder, 5 speed. Already had the APR tune done and a Neuspeed open air intake to daily drive. I'm getting familiar with the DSG, miss the 6 speed for sure, but this was to good of a car and deal to pass on. Good luck with you search. I agree with you on the styling of the MK7's.

To be frank, I am slowly getting bored with my R. It's actually too capable if you know what I mean. I only have remus catback on it. I am thinking of going full IE stage 2 tune(intercooler, air intake, DSG tune and etc.) or getting an f80 m3. I am still unsure since I love my R but I would really like to try driving a bmw sinxe I never owned one.

I went from a MK7 Golf R to a 2018 LCI M2 with a manual and they are definitely different worlds. You lose the one car solution practicality if you like driving people around or going skiing. But you gain on the giggle factor of day to day driving. The M2 responds to driver inputs so well and introduces you to the world of oversteer coming from a haldex based awd system. Can’t go wrong with an OG M2 or Comp.

I sold my golf r this year and I still tune in because it was one of my favourite cars. I was forced to sell it before it blew up completely and then I bought my b9 rs5 SB...that'll probably blow up too, but so far so good 😂.

Mk7 golf r is my dream car. Awd for the snow and fast af too. I personally would not get rid of it but hey is not up to me haha. I searched for the m2 comp is a beautiful car im sure u gonna love it.

Now before you sell because you “you’re bored” just hear me out haha. I’m probably biased cuz all I’ve had is VW GTIs and GLIs and now have my 18 golf R that now has 157,xxx miles and is SUPER RELIABLE. With that being said I also see it as the best car for the money. And will be going from stock just on 17” konig hypergrams to a EQT vortex XL full kit getting me to about 500HP with some suspension upgrades. At that point it will be my dream set up. And turns this car to a super car slayer! Love this R with such a passion and at some point my buy a RS3 but I would rather swap that motor in, just such a hassle to do it love this platform. I hear u yo, crazy ive been having the same thoughts ! but then some old lady went head on into me and totaled my Mk7.5 golf R stage 2 apr.. smh :/ I miss the awd already and exhaust note. Really is the best all arouind car but changing it up is always nice

Consider a Supra manual ? Better chassis and more special imho. Or just Porsche ? M cars are always just like German mustangs: have to be rental to performance cars.

I don't usually comment but I just wanted to say that as a big VW/Audi guy I would love to see you go to a m2 comp. I definitely think the s55 version is the one to go for just because of the tuning potential of that engine. A good middle ground between a golf r and m2 IMO would be the m240i x drive, mixes the all weather capabilities of the R with the BMW straight 6 and it's also cheaper than an M2. While there may be a loss of viewership from the golf enthusiasts, a BMW could expand the potential audience of the channel and also the sponsorship opportunities. Wish you all the best man!
