However, even after splitting my network into a 2.4ghz and a separate 5ghz network myspeed is drastically worse than it used to be. Granted, when i first bought the internet I liver 6 min awsy from where I am now, I CANNOT get full bars, just 4/5. I use a gaming laptop, 2 smart TVS, and my son uses a PS5. I'm in Metairie, LA(right outside New Orleans) the signal is great here, what differences does their new modem offer? Or, should I buy a 3rd party modem and router or extender to increase my speeds? It jumps from as low ass 112 mbps to 350-ish mbps, I've even seen 600(for 6 seconds..). Any suggestions?? Thanks so much in advance.

Like he was saying in the video, people that are abusing it and traveling into my area when they’re not supposed to be here are cutting into my bandwidth so this is only going to help me. I do however thing $160 is outrageous. I also think T-Mobile is wrong because even though you weren’t supposed to travel with the home plan, T-Mobile was outright telling nomads that they could do it so that’s messed up.

I ended up giving the gateway and service to my Mother-in-law to replace her $150+ "high speed" internet. Now I'm looking for another mobile option. The 1.2TB a month thing just means you'll be put lower than everyone else after that amount. It's no hard speed limit or anything. TBH, if you have a T-Mobile Hotspot ... $50 for 50GB, you aren't far off from the $160 for 200GB. Similarly, many newer plans come with hotspot plans built in. I suspect that you are somewhat correct in that the 'roaming' and removing the ability if you want to pay for it. I don't see a large scale usage on this, with the possible exception of 'there are no contracts' (i.e. some may use it for 2 months during the summer at a remote cottage or RV), and then change back to 'standard'. I truly suspect this is to not have a massive flood of '5G hot spots' at $50/month ($70) do eat the traditional hotspot items they have at ... $50/50GB. I could almost imagine anyone using a hotspot for a few months of summer while traveling/camping.

I'm so glad I found your channel yesterday! Will you be trying out the new mesh offering from T-Mobile? It was just offered to me today in a chat session with a T-Mobile rep. My takeaway is: My base price would no longer be $30; it has gone up $10 for new internet subscribers with a premium voice plan ($40 for me with my Magenta Max.) So going up to the $50 for the Mesh product with auto-pay would mean paying $10 more, not $20. She waived the activation fee, although she did collect $1.01 upfront. She also offered me a $200 gift card (Master Card, I think) if I keep the service for at least 60 days. I stopped in at the T-Mobile store and online to find the $200 offer is only given if you order online and/or through chat. The store said they weren't able to waive the activation fee, either. She said the T-Mobile 15 day test drive still applies to their mesh.

@@NaterTater hey Nate sorry to piggyback here but I haven’t seen you mention or do any videos on the quadpro vs waveforms 4x4 log periodic set. If you have and I’ve missed it sorry! But I’m asking because right now both are an option for me financially. I know the quadpro has 9.2 gain vs 11 on the log periodics, but the log periodic kit comes with a 30ft cable that can’t be substituted so I’m worried about that as I noticed a big loss in signal just going from the 10ft cable with the quadmini to two sets of 10ft separated by the window mount cable unit. This is a large amount of money for me and I need to be as sure as I can before I commit so I’m hoping you might have an answer!

Do you think having home internet plus with the mesh network would be better than having 2 separate regular TMobile internet devices?
@NaterTater6 ай бұрын
In general I recommend a 3rd party mesh setup as the extra $20/mo will add up over time. But yes you could try their mesh system to see if it works in your setup and cancel one of the lines.
@blank_slate506 ай бұрын
@NaterTater Where are you getting the $20 difference? You've referenced that a few times, but I see $40 for home internet and $50 for home internet plus, when bundled with the necessary phone plan. It's "only" a $10 diff for new customers isn't it?
@NaterTater6 ай бұрын
@blank_slate50 yea, perhaps it is $10 for new customers since they recently did a $10 increase across the board. So the existing 5 mil customers on the cheaper rate like me would see a $20 increase but you're right new customers see a $10/mo delta.

I totally get it. People have been abusing it like crazy and acting like it not harming tmobile or the other users, It is. When you sign up they know what tower you are going to be pulling all that data from and can plan for that. Having a home plan and traveling tower to tower is the problem. I hope they lock it down soon. Their prices are a little high for the 150 gig plan but not crazy high, I pay $80 for 100 gig on verizon. No carrier offers a true unlimited on a pure data plan anymore. $160 month for true unlimited is a good deal. Att is $90 for 100 gig, 160 is not that bad at all

There has to be a law suit here. Especially since their employees when signing up are just grabbing an address that works if yours doesn't support the home internet. When I I signed up my address didn't work so the employees were just like we'll just put one in until it works. No way this is legal when their employees are selling it in the way they have been. Ok don't move with mine but if it will only work with the address it was put under then m screwed because their employees did it.
@NaterTater6 ай бұрын

@@NaterTater I see your point but when you have someone like me who didn't know anything regarding this. And the employees just said its fine. I don't move around with my gateway we just had to put in another address because it wasn't available at the one im at. So im not moving the thing around at all. Also on my gateway its saying there is a wifi issue and to turn it off to fix it but everything is working fine. I think they want me to turn it off to activate the gps in the gateway to know if im moving around with it. Are there any other options out there that would work? I know starlink would but i dont have the upfront cash for the hardware. I saw someone talking about a company called ConnectenInternet that is supposedly good idk.

@@Daily-Motivation-Inspiration let it reset. The gps has been on the whole time, they just didnt care. Also they dont even need the gps. @@OmahaWayne the problem is their employees just gave me a random address i didnt provide thats where things are not cool. Their employees literally opened zillow and started choosing addresses until one worked. I didnt give an address. So if they go through with all this then they at the very least need to fire probably 80% of the people that sold this stuff. I'm annoyed that the way it was sold not so much the gps or anything else because i didnt provide an address their company (employees) did.

@@Daily-Motivation-Inspiration Yet you SIGNED a piece of paper clearly stating that the home internet is required to stay in that location. You knew you were violating the terms of service right then, but you didn't care as long as you were getting away with it.
