FYI: Before BSIS was BSIS they were BCIS, and if you were POST certified you did not need a baton card, also way back once you got you guard card you could carry a firearm, there was no permit.

So Next Year You Have to take a 8 Hour REFRESHER Course To Renew Your Guard Card Is BSIS going to ask you to submit your Certificate or how are they going to know you took the 8 Hour Refresher Course if you Renew on Breeze.

Breeze doesnt have info on the site detailing the new requirement for in-person training on the use of force when applying for guard card. If thats the case, we should still be grandfathered if we apply before the site is updated with the latest info?

How do you even apply for a baton rightnow in January 2024? I checked on breeze and Bsis and there’s no application posted yet

So if you’ve had your guard card for several years do you need to go back and retake your Powers of Arrest?

This video is quite helpful, I’m wondering what options I have as far as taking classes and getting my card however I work in construction, it’s hard, I live in SAnta Clarita and work in Santa Barbara county which puts me in a traffic/time constraint when it comes to doing in person classes

I had my gaurd card way before the new 40 hrs class requirements .. Is it going to effect me when my card guard expire in 2026?

I just completed my A BSIS “Guard Card & AB-2880 Training” (40 Hours) as well as my CA BSIS Powers to Arrest (3 hrs) and Appropriate Use of Force (5 hrs . Printed both certificate and im making an appointment to get my live scan as well as my backround check . What other courses are required ? (ps: Its nice hearing your voice again your teaching on the courses were top tier !)

What about the Berna pepper ball gun. Or the hero 24 pepper ball gun Are security guards with pepper spray permits going to be allowed to carry them. Or do security guards need to take a special course for example I have a security company and my security officers Carrie what is on their permit for example if the permit says tear gas they only carry tear gas. If there permit says pepper spray they only carry pepper spray I am interested in your thoughts about this thank you

Ive had my cards well, since the early 1990's in California. I'm Texas now and those cards are all expired. Im looking at training in the Dallas so I can see if it will be advantageous for a part-time opportunity. I don't miss the California big government attitude towards the taxpaying citizens.

Yes. The state changed the law as of January 1, 2024

Im sorry I have to throw cold water on your dreams. Because I don’t want you to make a mistake. I highly recommend you do not pursue Security as a career. In fact if you’re in CA you should avoid it entirely. The pay has gone down dramatically. So many guard companies are competing for contracts and underbidding each other to the point where they can no longer pay a living wage to guards. To put it simply clients want to pay little to nothing for Guard services because they see it as a net negative for their businesses. Most of the clients openly hate you. I’ve literally had client tell me to my face, “We pay way to much money for Security as soon as we get our camera system up we’re getting rid of you and your company.” I’ve seen jobs for ARMED Security being offered for $21 per hour in an area that the average home is well over a million. You will live in poverty your whole life if you make Security your career and you will be treated like trash by your employer AND the client.
