This is from the first week of October 2020. I recorded this after sending my 2 week notice to the client manager who I thought was my friend. After 3 months of this video being up he called me and cussed me out aggressively telling me to take it down. I complied but later I find out the client manager lied to the VEC (Virginia Employment Commission) about my reasons for leaving the company. When filing for unemployment I am ineligible because I quit because I live in my van and wanted o move. Please let me know if there is any way to fight this

Unfortunately, AUS has become one of the top 5 largest Security companies in America, if not the World. I used to work for them as well. Under paid, under trained, and they'll try to write you up for reasons they are responsible for. That was the last straw for me.

Rule #1 of security is don't be fooled into a promotion to supervisor. A few more dollars an hour can be great but you are responsible for covering all of the unattended shifts. People love to call off. I've had to work 80 hour weeks before, which is illegal. When things go south, you are blamed for things you are not responsible for.

hahaha mine i didn't even get a few more dollars...and my worst week was 74 hours..it was a lateral move because i was the highest paid guard at my first site. i started at $13 and they told me i was gonna get this other position for 15 but it never happened and then I went to this site because we lost the contract on my first site. my final pay after 2 promotions and doing an insane amount for the company $13 same as my starting even though I asked 3 times for more money and told them I was searching for other employment even though this was the height of the beginning of the pandemic

@IVVonEl - I had a company that pulled that same play with me. I was even made responsible for training people on sites I didn't work. When somebody lost keys at 2 in the morning, they called me to help instead of management. Then they tried to make it mandatory to do another 8 hours of training through their company so that they could charge the clients more money. I asked if we could all get a bump in pay to see the benefits of their game and they said they could do $0.25/an hour. I texted back that I would be leaving my uniforms at their office. The last thing they said to me was "I thought you were trying to grow with the company." HA! You can make me CEO, if I'm not getting paid fairly, it means nothing.

The 20/10/5 got me! You get 20 min break for lunch, a 10 and 5 min break (35 min for entire 8 hour shift. Then you must get permission to go on these breaks as well as to the bathroom and you cannot leave until next shift arrives or manager releases you. There needs to be a pay upgrade and treat people like adults and give adequate breaks. Wasn’t worth it for me.

Honestly security is just a stepping stone so if you're working there just stay there long enough to save maybe 10 to 32 grand. A lot of sites don't respect the break schedules and expect you to answer a call even if you just finished heating up your lunch.

I just recently quit this company earlier this week, I'm in the New Jersey area. This is one of those companies who pretends to give a damn about their employees until they are tested. You can go above and beyond for them and they won't care, and management will treat you like your expendable because they have such a high turnover rate. Can't say I've ever had to deal with this type of situation in terms of location, but I had to deal with horrible management. My former boss literally threw me under the bus to save himself after I was lied on by an employee where I worked at. He tried to send me somewhere else with lesser pay in an even worst location. I gave it a week and immediately quit once I realized just how horrible the rumors about this company was. I have been working security for over 9 years now, and Allied Universal is definitely one of the worst security companies I have ever worked for. And I will say, quitting this job has had me feeling far less stressed than I've ever felt.

As an account manager for AUS, I have one of the lowest turnover rates in the region because I treat my team fairly and faithfully. I think AUS gets a bad wrap sometimes, but the problem usually lies with the specific manager. In general I find AUS to be a great company, but there are a lot of poor managers out there that can really suck the life out of some really great employees. However, as a manager, it is our job to get the site covered one way or another, and that requires us to ask more of our employees sometimes. When they help out, a solid manager will reward them. It's the shitty managers that take but never give back that ruins it for everyone.

The amount of disrespect I got and the tasks i got as a site supervisor was not worth the pay. Everyday there’s something new and I always have to generate an incident report. Now I work in property management, i try to be more understanding with my security associates. Although, I can’t help them with their pay increase (board didn’t approve). Parts of security are boring, but vital. Security really is important and should not be downplayed. I'm sorry your working under those conditions. I've been in the industry 10 years - every company was understaffed and every man unappreciated. I think they limit staff on purpose. In the UK its becoming on par with cleaners, they also are merging cleaning with security. Big companies get large contracts due to low cost and maybe sending a attractive female 'closer'. Guards always treated like oil rather than cogs. I've learned its not a 'career' industry its just a job. I've never been late in my first 5 months of a new company, manager calls every week to cover due to bad recruitment.

Yeah it used to be a career industry and if you're in the private security field it still is, but the careers careers in security aren't at the guard level. It's a corporate field and basically the only way to make money and not be overworked and taken advantage of is to being in office for the security companies. The pay gap is crazy especially the bonuses and expenses they get paid for while they're paying 11/hr to most of their employees. Walmart pays better than most security companies and sites in the US.

I’ve been doing security for atleast 10 years and believe me it’s getting old. Like you I’ve been at sites like that one and I just try to take certifications and get more game under my belt So I can keep a steady income flow. I also thought about van/truck life. We as security get treated like we ain’t sh*t and we’re expendable it’s nonsense smh i hope it gets better for you man, I hope you can be your own boss and use this security lifestyle as a step towards your next direction in being relieved of this stress. I worked for Allied when they were still Allied Barton before they merged with Universal. Waaay back when. Now there’s a massive lawsuit for anyone on Allied payroll between certain dates bc the company failed to pay proper overtime, breaks, hours etc….and the lawsuit was won so if you’re in that specific date range you’re automatically enrolled to receive a portion of the massive sum of money Allied is now legally obligated to pay back. No steps necessary to take; just wait for the check to arrive. Hopefully you’re involved in it & got the same letter I did informing me I did not need to take any further steps unless I decided to withdraw my name from list of qualified ex-employees.

That's huge! Thank you for the information. Yeah I'm certain they were doing some illegal stuff still after the full merger cause I didn't start until a couple years into the allied universal name change...I didn't get breaks and they had me work a 32 hour shift but I had to "give back" my hours so other employees had to work 16 hour shifts because they were sick or why ever they missed the shifts I was forced to cover.

No they don’t pay anyone salary outside of the main office. That I know of. They would make me give my days back so if I worked 32 hours straight I’d be off a day, work another 8 hour shift then I’d be off for 4 days in a row because they would NOT allow over time…so then the site manager would have to work out of his shifts to make sure other shifts were covered and the regular employees would get to work basically all the good shifts the 9-5’s

Working "3rd party" security you will run from one company to another. Favoritism, Drama, Politics. You are a warm body & easily replaceable. The insurance sucks. No communication. A revolving door, people continously coming & going. Apply for "In-House" security jobs. You work directly with a company & receive better pay/benefits. You feel valued & part of a team Being a security guard is great, especially if you like to read & watch movies. But later down the road you're going to realize you had way more skills to offer & could have achieved higher career goals.

I feel bad for you man. I've been a police officer private investigator loss prevention manager I've owned several security companies etc etc and I can tell you the big fail in the industry is how they treat their own staff. Most uniform security companies especially are notorious for working a guy to the point he's nuts and not wanting to compensate them for the time they work or the distance they travel in their own cars making them buy uniforms Etc I have never done that to any of my employees most of my employees stayed with me at least four years and most of them ended up being police officers thanks to the Stellar training I spent a lot of time providing. This kind of company issue is what gives security companies and the officers a bad rep. What's kind of funny is Allied is one of the largest security companies in the world because they bought out a bunch of companies but unfortunately that overgrowth has caused problems for them and they have not adjusted for the industry change they have in made things work correctly. A few years ago I had applied for them and they were so interested in hiring me and having me become a training kind of sop developer guy and I guarantee you I would have made a world of difference for that company if they would have been willing to listen the funny part is is their higher-ups refused to interview me despite all the HR and everyone else's efforts to get me in there. The hiring recruiting department told me that this is a big problem for them and that they have a hard time getting good people because of the organizational fails

I cannot wait to go back on my regular 40-hour schedule! I live in Brooklyn and the job site is located in Long Island City Queens. It's a long, boring, stressful subway ride. I hate what the MTA has become. The MTA needs a clean up from the top guy to the garbage personnel. It should take me no more than 90 minutes from Brooklyn to Queens not 2 hours (more than 2 hours on the weekend, especially holiday weekends). The MTA is not going our way as their stupid logo displays. Back in my college days, I never saw myself working as a security guard. It's not worth it if the pay is to little. I recommend walmart now. I mean I used to hate corporations but now after doing security there are bad corporations and meh corporations. Walmart gives time off when you ask for it, pto and ptto, and raises. Didn't get a single raise with allied and no one on my 2 sites did either over my year working for em. A year at walmart you'll get at least a quarter raise and have over 100hrs of pto/ptto combined. Oh also the health insurance is better....uh just I wouldn't recommend security unless the pay is over 15 and it was an incredibly laid back site

Yeah security is easy as fuck most of the time, but can also be really shitty. I lucked out in working a site that only has me as a guard. I make $17/hr, unarmed, at a Dillard’s. Just started working for Allied yesterday. Not my first security job. They actually had 4 guards quite the site because you have to walk around all day. But like that’s nothing to me, the site is calm, the staff is great, and I get my steps in every day. Clocked 10.5 miles yesterday. The problem is guards expect to sit around all day, but it’s really site dependent on what they want you to do. Easiest site I’ve worked. I’m not defending Allied here, all I’ve heard are horror stories, but it’s not all bad, just depends on the contract and who you work with.

Now my mother is telling me to look for another security job even though I really want to anymore because of those two jobs I don't really sleep as much anymore I only get about 2-3hours of sleep until I have to go back and start my shift right now I'm so tired , I can barely eat alot of food, and I feel like nobody cares about me . That bridge is scorched and destroyed fully. Anyone with the audacity to work an employee a 32 hour shift or consistently schedule them with back to back 16 hour shifts can go to hell. Also the entire security industry is broken. I'll never work in security again unless the entire industry has an overhaul...also another reason the industry is broke. You say it's great for when you get older yeah because security officers don't do anything. It's an entire industry based on a facade of security. 90 percent of security is fake just a glorified secretary that you have to pay for a license to do except secretaries get paid more or the equivalence too but they don't have to pay for a pointless license.

I’ve worked for AUS since 2016 in two different states. The company is very top heavy. What kept me at the site in North Carolina was a good relationship with local management and employees. We all disliked the client, and thought corporate sucked, but we were like a tight knit family, and went through the bulls%^*t together. If the office walls had been miked, we would’ve all been fired. At my post in Florida now, the situation is inverted; I love the clients I serve. Whenever this gig ends, these people will always be my friends. What hasn’t changed, is corporate still sucks.
