Formed in 2019 in Groningen, Way Up North is a young Americana duo trying to reinterpret the beautiful sounds of the Appalachian mountains in their own unique way. The band consists of songwriter and guitarist Thijs Vrolijk who writes subtle country songs with poignant lyrics, and multi-instrumentalist Alan Jozua, who supplies mandolin, banjo, bass and vocals.
Their sound is a unique mix of bluegrass, Appalachian folk, country, and even a little rock’n roll at times.
