Your design and concept for the chicken coup could make the two of you some good money. You would have to patent the design, concepts and ideas to protect them legally but I think it would be well worth the investment. Once it has been patented, you could submit the design to Farming & Agriculture Magazines on do it yourself plans to build an inexpensive but fully operational chicken coop. Another point to consider is to go into business building chicken coups and runs for families that would-be delighted to hire you to build them a custom chicken coup with all your proven methods, designs and ideas. I really like your designs and all the hard work the two of you have gone through on your journey to be happy and successful ❤ together. Good luck friends

Thank you so much for going out of your way to help others (the buyer of your homestead, everyone you meet, and your KZbin viewers!!!!). My family raised animals when I was a kid, and now my children's families are learning. You have such great ideas to make everything safer, easier, and more efficient!!! I LOVE watching and sharing your videos with my HUGE family, spread out all over the United States, including Alaska! We LOVE you guys and everything you've done!!!! Ignore the people who just don't get it, or are hateful! You keep being the great and helpful people you are!!! God is blessing you, and by extension us, through you!!! Btw, a tip to help ease your mind and spirit: It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of you. If you know you are doing and saying what's right, then you are good! Because God knows your heart. Anyone who accuses you of anything or belittles you, is not acting like a child of God. You should only care about what God thinks of you! I'm really not crazy religious, or much into particular religions, but I believe in God, and his love for us. Good bless you all!

I agree about wood chips. They take too long to degrade. Whereas, if you use hay along with their poop it would be excellent manure for gardens. I've never done it because I always haven't "black gold" for my gardens. I think your chickens are lucky.

A lot of great ideas in that coop, the new owners will be happy. I got a couple of damaged 2x3s for $1 at Lowes, I'm going to try them out in my next coop, they may be a happy compromise. #2 roosts on thinner branches about 2inch size when she's up in the trees, I have noticed that lately, but don't know if that means anything. Thanks!

I used to raise a lot of different kinds of birds, old bird books used to suggest a variety of perch sizes for them to prevent sore feet & provide choices. But the truth is, the real expert is always the person who quietly watches their birds & learns from them. That would be you.. hehe
