He was one of my fav rappers. I had this cassette the day it came out in 89. I would check the record shop every tuesday for music I liked. I used to listen to this while I walked to school. Kane and Rakim were some of the first guys for me that took the rap style to next level. Before them it was alot of silly rhyming for the most part. Kane was a bit hardcore for most but not me. I was 12 and thought I was 20.

Big daddy kane was the first proper rapper i heard. I think he was the pioneer for future generations and paved the way for all the big record deals that came after his peak. Deserves alot more credit than he gets. His influence on tbe genre is second to none. In fact all rap music that followed used his method of flow and sampling

What is most impressive about this to me is how it manages to be real hip-hop lyricism but done in a player R&B style. Even though he is smooth it sounds as authentic as more rugged rappers like Chuck D, KRS-One or Rakim.
