I'm not a runner, I'm a cyclist, but I find Ultra Running very fascinating. The sport is probably the most egalitarian of all sports in the men and women can compete so evenly, the young and older racers are the same. It is all about mental toughness, and I find that so beautiful to watch. I also now consider Courtney Dauwalter one of the greatest and most intriguing athletes I have seen. She is amazing.
@IRun4Ultra6 жыл бұрын
She's definitely intriguing 😊 for sure.

Worth noting a couple of points. Early in the video a runner mentions the challenge of the road loop. The course was designed to even the playing field between road and trail runners. Pure road runners find the trail equally difficult. Also, the importance of previous multiday running experience cannot be stressed enough to achieve success at this race. Johan has gone crewless (and aidless) at multiple 300 mile races, and has completed 550 miles in six days. Fabulous brainchild of a race by Laz.

Courtney is my hero. She and all the rest are simply amazing. I’m wrecked after staying up 24 hours. 67? It’s just not in my mental capacity to grasp! Props to every runner.

Are runners allowed to leave early on a loop to gift themselves a longer break before the next? Conversely, run a loop fast, and start late on the second loop to give a longer gap between loops?
@NathanHeaver2 жыл бұрын
No everyone starts loop together but can arrive earlier for more of a rest.

Why the hell does this only have 100k views? i'm only a beginning runner because of a divorce to clear my head and slowly fell in love with the sport, since i do it for mental/head clearing and to be fit for my kids i have no end-game like a half marathon of a full, my mind and will goes further than that, just injured myself in the last week of april #corona. Doing to much with to little of a buildup and possibly runner's knee. My goal for now is to run the 'dodentocht 2021' in Belgium, it's a 100km walk/run. I hope to be able to work up to it with my off-schedule of 1 week no kids / 1 week kids, oldest came 4 yesterday so they can't really accompagnie me on runs for now and the corona ensures they can't go to my brother aswell. Anyway just a little heart release to say thank you for this short film and a new subscriber !

@afroheaddudeful4 жыл бұрын
No, they have an hour to finish a loop of like 4miles, after an hour they have to start a new loop or call it quits. So they better get back to camp before the time is up so they can take a short break
