Can’t wait next week or so, to get it insulated and install flooring walls, ceiling.... I want to go where the sun shines! Not too bad in recent days but it will be so nice to be able to do that! One disadvantage is that this unit uses a lithium ion battery which has many less recharge/cycles then lithium iron oxide as many of its competitors use. 500-600 cycles vs 2000+ for iron oxide. But on the other hand it is cheaper then many,
@ib5164 жыл бұрын
....and much lighter weight. Don't forget that the "500 cycles" is 500 FULL cycles. Keeping Lithium batteries between 35% and 85% only uses a fraction of a "cycle" (maybe 15%), and adds 300% or more to their life span.

Ok decisions decisions since both Battle Born & Jackery are approximately same price... Questions 1. How many cycles does this have? (Battle Born has 3000- 5000 Cycles* **Approximately 75-80% of the battery capacity will remain after 3000 cycles in applications recharging at 0.5C or lower We have seen life spans well over 5000 cycles in our lab testing} 2. What is the warranty? (Battle Born has 10 Year Warranty) I am soon to be getting my van and I am not going with just straight batteries as I want something that is going to last longer and give more power. I plan on getting approximately 300-400 Watts of solar so if I was to do this and use Jackery I would do 200 Watts for the top of van and 2 - 100 Watts Portable panels. I have to see which is better cost efficient and provide the power I plan on having.
@VANCITYVANLIFE4 жыл бұрын
There is NO Comparison between this and a battle born. You just can’t put those things together because they are completely different. If you have the cash to build a battle born set up which would be triple the cost of this then do it. That’s a no brainer

Great video. It seems to me that they haven’t addressed the charge input rates they had with the 500. Average solar charging hours are 3 to 5 a day. If you charge the 1000 while driving in the 12v charger...13-14 hours? That’s 3 days of solar for the 1000 and 2 days for the 500. It’s great if you’re going to use power initially and not have to worry about recharging the generator. If it takes 13-14hours to recharge, how efficient is it, if you’re camping and it takes 3 days to fully charge? I know Rockpals has that covered. Check out DIY Solar with Will Prouse. Namaste 🇨🇦
@jayjayhooksch14 жыл бұрын
Yea, these solar generators have certainly come a long way but they are still not quite there yet imo. The charge rate needs to be improved a bit as does the inverter imo; I think 1500w is the sweet spot since it will run common appliances like kettles, microwaves, electric cookers. I know most rv/vanlifers have other methods of cooking and specialized low wattage appliances but this would open it up for home backup use as well. For someone in a house or apartment like me it's hard to justify the price of these things if it means I have to buy all new small appliances as well just for the case of a power outage.
@longhairmullet4 жыл бұрын

Will Prouse made a video a while ago about what it would cost for somebody to build a system that could run an air conditioner in their RV eight hours a day all summer. That system would be about $10,000 worth of batteries just to have enough reserve power to get you through a few days. The answer is no.. if you are the kind of person that requires that kind of power then looks like you’re going to be living at a campsite with short power all day. That’s crazy. Or running a generator beside your van all day and annoying all of the neighbours around you ha ha. There are just some luxuries you have to leave behind
