For starters, Never use "Coin" mode. Go into "Custom" and turn off everything 30 and below. What's happenening it's detecting the silver coin and the iron at the same time, 96+15=111.5 (96 for the silver coin and 15 for the Iron), Devide that by 2 you get 55.75, Outside the "Coin" range. All depends on what registers at what time within the EMF. I know on mine there is a "Ground Balancing" option and since you're searching in what looks like clay it should have been calibrated to the ground along with your Pin Pointer.

It could be your coil when I first got my Garrett machine the coil was bad and they ship me another one and I haven’t had any problems since

Easiest way to quickly sort out the ferrous-scrap is to carry a strong magnet in a clip-lock plastic-bag (makes it so much easier to remove fine particles of rusted iron & steel), however some soils, particularly that reddish clay, can have actually contain a high quantity of iron which will always make it difficult for most metal-detectors to discriminate different materials!

I should get a metal detector. I'm in process of leveling up my old barn floor. I got a couple of 116 year old bottle's and some old saddle buckles, buttons , old brass bell, found a spoon . This building has been here since late 1800's hard to tell what's all here

Dissapointed when this machine came out (just after Vanquish). Only advantage with Apex, Multi Salt mode makes it a dream on beach, but its not even waterproof! big draw back. I was hoping to see a multi frequency AT machine (only thing the Max is missing). ❤ATMax (waterproof 3m).

My property is like 140 years old and God only knows what is buried here. My dad said my property was once a propane dealership. Which is why I couldn’t get anything to grow in the center of it. It was a parking lot.

Things on the surface will read different than when they are buried. Different soils can affect the reading too. My husband and I have 2 Whites metal detectors. Mine’s a Prism IV, shows depth, has discrimination and target shows on a graph, no ID numbers. His is a Spectrum, discrimination, ID, depth, manual ground balancing, lots of programs. They both do about the same but mine is easier, turn it on and you’re ready. We moved from Oregon to Montana and they are both working differently than before. The depth is showing much shallower and we would be rich if all the silver signals weren’t old beer cans. We are digging all the signals at our place as it used to be a general store and post office and there was once a town in our pasture.

I found war nickel and a 1941 quarter with my apex on the 3rd hunt . I have had very good luck with mine. I do think that there are better machines out there. But for the price it an awesome machine.

Thats really disappointing. Once the iron touched the silver coin. It contaminated the signal and made it worthless. Yep, it is garbage. Thanks jeremy for an honest review of your metal detector, even though you werent trying to do so!

I have used the AT Pro for several years. When I first got the Apex it was a difficult learning curve and I put it down for awhile. But I have picked it back up and used it a lot and as I have gotten used to it it has produced well for me. Going back over spots I thought were "dug out" I have been pleasantly surprised to find more good targets. I have found several Walkers in varying soil conditions. The same with Mercury dimes. One of my fields is a complete iron bed of nails from a house that burnt down. I have found a Barber dime and a silver back to a lapel pin. I have also found a Gold ring in an iron heavy field. I hope you give it more time and varying settings and conditions before throwing it in the garbage column. Love your videos.

Jeremy, have you seen the detector that DALLMYD, Jiggin with Jordan and Nora Svet use? I know it’s expensive but maybe you should bite the bullet, send that one back and get a Minelab Excalibur. They’re about $1,600. Or keep that one. I’m just making a suggestion. Thanks for doing what you do.

Hi. I just want to say, I know you must enjoy ur "day job" & now, you share ur "off time" with us. You have a great life, please be careful and enjoy it. One more thing, I've been following the Kiely Rodni story. I'd like to get ur take on the condition of her Honda, when it was pulled out. I saw the drivers side window was broken out, the side mirror on the driver's side was also broken off, just dangling. I also noticed the driver's side rear passenger window was down, those windows don't usually roll all the way down, so in that case, it looks to me like it's rolled down as low as it would go. I think there was plenty of room for her to get out. I don't know a out the very back glass or the other side windows or side mirror. Kiely's car was also upside down when they found it. I'm quite sure you already know all this. So, allow me, with ur experience, does a an support normally roll over when it hits the water or after it's submerged? And is the damage to the driver's window & mirror normal? Do you have an idea how fast she was going to be 55 feet from the bank? Really, would just like ur input. Assuming there were no currents, assuming you know the weight of the car, the weight of the victim involved, the height of the bank, you should be able to apply a ballistics formula used calculating the trajectory of a fired round of ammunition at a certain range by plugging in meters of feet per second which are convertible to kilometers or miles per hour.. What you might have problems with is figuring out the weight of the fuel that the car had in the tank and the weight of the personal effects that were in the vehicle at the time of the incident to be factored into gross vehicle weight. To be conservative, I'd estimate half a tank of gas.

Try the MineLab go find 66... Probably the best all round cheap fun Metal detectors available..iv got a minelab 60 (old Version of the 66)...it works ok at cutting out the iron stuff.

I tried an Apex when they first came out and it wasn not at all as bad as your expeience, I even found a Peace Dollar down about 5.5” in a trashy park with the Apex. I wonder what mode and settings you were running here back then? That said, Amazing how fast the evolation of detectors has changed to current day. Garrett was the brand I started with in the 80’s and I ahoping their new Storm series gets them back into the mix of being either at or ahead of the modern-day detector tat take on both the Minelab Xterra Elite and the Nokta Triple Score at the value end of Simulateous Multi-Frequency, and take on the XP Deus II and Minelab Manticore at the higher end offerings.I’ve put my purchase decision off until after the upcoming June 18th reveal from Garrett.

Just my opinion but it makes sense that if you are provided a product and all you have to do is promote the hell out of it then that’s what you do . I’ve seen some diehards that’s really into this carry up to three brands , different size coils , etc .

Nug, if you’re on discriminating mode a broken signal or sporadic signals could be the detector telling you it’s junk metal and to not dig it.

Jeremy move slowly between metals it got a Five seconds switch from metals to metals it not just your detector that does that all digital detectors do that now the old one didn't do that because they detect Faris and non-fairs the new digital detectors detect Faris and non-fairs and density so you have to move it slower but you save time by know the metals before you dig them up.read the manual that is why it came with the detector.

Garett apex work same as minelab 600 but one goes to 20 600 goes to 15 khz but my at pro with 13 inch can find small targets with after market coil think these change frequently a bit or cover more ground

Not any different result on that silver coin + iron, than other detectors. You just don’t have it set up right. If you want to discriminate iron, then follow the directions. Many of us have successfully used the Apex to discriminate iron.

Does the Apex have Ground Balancing...? Different Grounds have different chemicals and minerals.... when you go from a Beach to graded Earth ya need to Ground Balance the machine again....?

What frequency? Put it in multi frequency. The ground and iron is hit and masks other signals. Love my Apex great if set right.

Maybe you got it a dud it happens maybe the equipment is faulty send it back with the video let me give you a new one maybe it has a default I don't know I've heard good things but I bought one for 20 bucks with a kid and I didn't know what I was doing I was not happy either but technology is not my friend. Iron will screw with the signals. You should use it all metal mode. You need to learn the metal detector before you go bashing it.

Sorry, your test was not well done at all. First, you admitted you "might be doing something wrong" - you didn't show us your settings. Second, show a detector that would show that quarter next to that giant piece of iron you had.
