Thanks for the update regarding the projects on your channel... of course we all learn that things don't always go the way we want them to... and we have to adapt. You're doing just fine. I've never seen an engine with 5 valves per cylinder... didn't even know they existed... so this is going to be fun to watch. Red line at 8700 rpms? Just... wow. If you're replacing the cams, honestly, just get the 360CS cams, and get the heads milled for a bit of compression. Something else to think about. The standard 360 heads are well known to respond well to a port job. So get that done as well. Good luck with the project.

I'm reusing cams, hopefully and as far as porting the head, I would love to but depends on cost.

@@daniel-san464 The porting is worth it - this actually goes for both 360 and F430 heads. I know they are not the same, but still. It is part of why the engine in my Kessel Racing built F430 EVO GT3 racer makes about 640 hp N/A. Of course its a racing engine with big cams etc. but it took it from 606 hp to 640. I know others have seen nice results in 360's, especially if you bump the compression a bit. Also, maybe considering selling the cams? Try and ask Ricambi if they might have a set of take-out cams from a CS. You could also go one step further and use a set of cams from a 360 Challenge. The stock 360 cams are VERY mild. The Challenge cams would be a lot of fun with ported heads and a compression bump. A little teaser from a test day after I had the heads done. The difference was enough so that we needed to reprogram the gearbox kzbin.infoQWn0469j7Kc

Not even close. Any road going vehicle that can't go 100,000 miles without an engine out rebuild is junk. Replace it with an LS that gets as much or more power and go. Ferrari doesn't make engines, they make expensive explosive boat anchors.

15k for parts isn't too bad although I would fit new pistons. Gaskets can hurt. My old Mercedes had 2 that cost 1.6k! crazy money especially when that engine has lots of fuel injection gaskets that are unobtainium... $$$$$

Why would you do the pistons? 360 pistons are not known to be wear items so to speak. That's a waste of money that can be spent better. If anything, he can get a coating done at Line 2 Line Coatings.

Why go OEM ? fitting Mahler pistons etc would be cheaper and produce a better engine..

I'm sorry, but you should not give advice about stuff you don't know. Guess who makes those pistons, and guess what the 360 is not known for. Can I also point out that I don't believe any deceased composer is making pistons. That would be Mahle pistons. Anyway, I know from experience getting pistons for my F430 GT3 race car that Mahle will charge you a very pretty penny per piston, more than an OE. Mahle charges me the equivalent of $7500 for a set of 8 with rings. If I could use the OE stuff, it would be $5500. When I had my engine built, we also spoke to a US manufacture of pistons, and that was 10k. You are sorely mistaken if you think only Ferrari knows how to add FAVT. So I think Daniel is better off getting a set of used slugs from Ricambi which he can pick up for about $550 including rings, and that's for both.

Ferrari and Lambo only a few thousand cars every year. All parts are oem. No aftermarket support. So everything super expensive. Parts for a $200-$500,000 exotic do not depreciate like the car. Labor does not become cheaper either.
