I'd keep the bumper for now. If something happens accidently, your intercooler will thank you.

I would be in favor of deleting the bumpers. I might replace them with some simple push bars for minimal protection. But I think that would clean up the look of the car. A little body work under the front air intake will be needed, once the bumpers are removed (it's pretty well hidden now, by the bumper). But are we getting agead of ourselves worrying about the aesthetics of the car? Seems like maybe safety and mechamical should come first. Then, if it works as pkanned, make it orettier.

Haven’t seen pin crimpers since I left the USAF! Probably crimped 3000 pins during my career.

bumpers have to go if that is an option. US style bumpers ruin the original design. Awesome project!

Advise strongly that the head gasket (and bolts) are replaced first before adding boost. A good opportunity to inspect the head, block and valves too.

I just subscribed, I subscribe because you've been in the background of wizard's work and I know whatever you build is going to be awesome, I love the idea of turbocharging but truly believe keeping this engine n/a would be best, I certainly believe you can still modernize the fueling system without throwing in the complexity of a turbocharger, maybe engine management system and a set of throttle bodies from a modern sport bike would do it.

DMC Crimpers.... There I was, in the US Air Navy working Aircraft Electronics and the 'Go To' for trouble shooting complex out of spec systems issues related to connector and wire repair. My first aircraft, the A7 Corsair II, had a DMC Kit of 7 total tool cases with one case alone holding over 2,000 line items, both durable and consumable tooling, and a total of over 12,000 individual parts that you HAD to account for every time you checked it out of the Tool Room, once you got the side of the Aircraft to work on it, when QA/CDI inspection was complete and again when you turned it in to the Tool Room. My last few years, I was the Manager for the Tool Room of a Composite Squadron that supported a total of 5 different platforms, SH-60s, MH-60s (yeah, totally different DMC kit, whole aircraft used smaller wiring than the older SH-60 did), P-3 Orion, S-3 Viking and C-130 Hercules, with duplicate kits for the P-3 and S-3 aircraft for a total of 7 DMC Kits that contained from 5 to 10 DMC Cases, plus 2 additional DMC Accessory Kits one for EMI Metal Shielding and one for a new Armor Coaxial Cable in the MH-60S Knight Hawk. I know DMC Crimpers..... I don't know if the company is still located next door to Universal Studios Nickelodeon Studios on I-4 but it used to be right there. Wait to do the Nick Studio Tour and right across the fence was DMC Company.

Adjust the valves before you bolt on the new EFI intake plenum. I can almost guarantee the exhaust valves are out of spec and you will have the devils' own time getting back in there after the fuel injection stuff is in place. also: there should be a complete wiring diagram at the back of the owners' manual. (if one came with your car)

I owned a 1972, USA model, picked up at the factory in Turin. It was a great car until it rusted out pretty dramatically in many panels and most of the brake lines in the late 70s. I donated it to the HS auto shop, it was rebuilt and seen around town for years. About the bumpers: Mine had normal attractive small bumpers -- I would ditch the giant bumpers completely on this one. BTW, I had the chance to visit the old factory last year on a trip to Italy. It is now a giant shopping mall including the hotel we stayed at. I did not know it was the same building until we saw the display of how the factory was set up: Car manufacture would start on the ground floor, travel down the very long first floor, then second floor, then third floor, and finished cars were tested on the test track on the roof. Mine came complete with cheap steel already rusting and one or two wheel bearings with no grease, and several ground wires not connected for various lights. But it was a blast. I am very much looking forward to this set of videos.

Great project. Don't use the US-bumpers, if you can find some european ones, they are much nicer. Or none. My father bought a new Fiat 124 Sport Coupe in 1968, and had it until 1972. It rusted away. Peter Larsen from Denmark.
