He wasn’t blocked. They sold over 20 million records. His downfall was when he let “Beats By The Pound” go and lost the original sound. Artists with messages are blocked though…that’s why Lil SHOOT’EM Up is pushed more than a Krit or Dead Prez

GIP is sooooo right!!! Folks don't understand "the industry" didn't like what P was doing because he wasn't "attached" with anyone. He did it independently by himself. He was from the south, and they didn't like that. Folks fail to forget No Limit was making so much money at one point that they were making more money than their distributor at the time, Priority. Priority couldn't even pay them properly because they were making too much money. NO label has ever repeated such an act since!!!!!Cash Money did their thing, BUT they had a BIG machine behind them Universal. No limit didn't have that, so that's why I never put N.L. & CMR on the same level. N.L. was TRULY independent! Gipp right they always kept P success at a minimum cause he wasn't walking to their beat 💯💯💯

@ImDatReal30 Priority was a major label but not like Universal! That why BBTP broke up because when Priority was bought out, the new company want No Limit to put contracts on each artist. It was a 3 way phone call between P, the label, and BBTP. BBTP said they didn't want no contracts and to keep it as it is and P said fuckem that's on them!! BBTP got mad that P said fuckem but he wasn't saying as if he didn't want them. He was saying like "fuckem it's on them" Priority couldn't even paid No Limit correctly cause No Limit was making too much money. Priority was a major, but not like Interscope, Universal, Def Jam, etc

The South had a reputation of being slow ,country, ignorant and uneducated in part due to slavery. But when you research and find that Brooklyn ,NY had the biggest slave plantation and they sold slaves on Wall Street .The reason I respect Master P is because he had to Master Percy to have the vision for No Limit first. He bucked and redefined the image of the old south as a black rapper and brought economics to the game or should I say black excellence .He made No Limit a brand that's corporate money all he needed was distribution that's what Gipp is speaking on big ups to P and Gipp stay strong my people ❤

Jay-Z & Diddy never was in Master P way simply becasue the south has its own shit going on. Master P label couldnt keep up with the times, Cash Money stole Master P's blueprint, ran with it and did it better. when Juve, B.G. & Turk left and when Lil Wayne wasn't as hot in 2000 to 2003, Birdman solo shit and Big Tymers shit was keepin their momentum as a label goin while No Limit failed at its Re-Invention, Birdman successfully kept re-inventing his self and label. Master P just fell off bruh. Birdman NEVER complain about Jay-Z or Puffy having success and he been winning and still is and he KNOW he got the best Record Label ever. it's only the rappers like Gipp who complain but not in any of the people lanes that he is hating on, he's not in the "Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Nas, Andre 3000, 2Pac, Biggie, Scarface, Eminem" convo, he aint sold records like them, and Gipp dont got no thriving businesses like Master P, Birdman, Jay-Z, Diddy so what is he really talking about, he is just hating. A lot of them felt like Hip Hop started and ran through the East Coast, therefore, if they didn’t get the shine or artist recognition first, all the other regions meant nothing in comparison to them. That being said, Master P was still able to make hundreds of millions independently, and was able to collaborate with who he wanted. I’m pretty sure discrimination within the industry by other execs., labels etc; played a part in him not receiving more deals after his original ones expired with his distributors, and was continually blackballed….He was never able to reinvent himself because of it, and got caught up with tax issues, lost artists to crime and scandal, and the label fell apart. He had a nice run, but couldn’t reorganize his business. Ultimately, he wanted to remain primarily independent, and help keep money and control primarily in black hands, just like Dame Dash, but we see who kept money and control primarily out of black hands, and prospered, artists and execs. like Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, and Birdman….👌🏾

Interesting. Nah, was Master P blocked or did he just fall off (like all artists do)? I choose to believe that he fell off like all artists do. It's not right or wrong. It happens to all artists. He had the mid '90s to '99. No Limit fell off during the dawn of the aughts and was replaced by Cash Money. It's so interesting because I'm sitting here thinking about my No Limit to Cash Money transition and it's almost as though No Limit never existed. That's all programming. Powers that be decides on who's gon be a star, who ain't gon be a star and how long you gon be a star. Most artists get 3 - 5 years of limelight because during that period, they'll have time to make a cultural impact. Once they get older and music changes, the label will kick them to the curb like a redhead stepchild. Think about all of yo' favorite artists. Kris Kross comes to mind. They had '92 - '96. They curiously disappeared after '96. Nobody knows they last LP and they barely know they sophomore LP. Consumers go for they debut LP because it had the most cultural impact. Circling back to Master P, he always did his own thing and he never swapped swords w/ the other moguls during the time. I believe that was an issue for Master P. "Oh, so you makin' as much money as we are and you ain't have to do nothin' zesty?!" Master P was independent, but he was partnered w/ Priority. After the '90s, he kept going, independently, but he found that his efforts kept going unnoticed and ultimately, underperformed. That happens to most artists after they run w/ the major system is over. They go independent, put out music and nobody ends up buying the music. They make music videos and nobody ends up watching the videos. Anyhow, I'm still a huge No Limit fan. Mac's _Shell Shocked,_ Mystikal's _Unpredictable_ and Mr. Serv-On's _Life Insurance_ are among the best LPs on the roster.

@@foffactsoverfeelings4138 Jay-Z & Diddy never was in Master P way simply becasue the south has its own shit going on. When they all lost the house producer the music went down. Yes when Dre left death row I know it was over even through Pac was coming out with Makaveli you heard the quality of the music shift instantly. Listen to snoops the Dogfather album. Instant change in the production and mixing. P lost beats by the pound puff lost most of his Hitmen. Producers in the 90’s were the key to your label

Remaining totally independent with no corporate backing is what failed Master P. He was done with music, when he and Beats By the Pound split. He had too many irons in the fire and no one with the business acumen to help him. Jay-Z pulled off Roc Nation because he had the right pieces and let go all the hangers on. No Limit was supposed to be what Roc Nation is.

We need to keep it real P burned thru his company by not doing right by the artist, producers. All P movies were good movies with bad scripts & acting. I’m Bout it, I got a hook up was straight. Hot Boyz was cool the others were not good. Then you add P couldn’t generate anymore hits. His sound was worn out from over saturating. In No Limit heights they were dropping multiple artist each month. P had a great run then he switched to product, musically his ear was done.
