Part 14: • Big Gipp on Diddy and ...
Part 1: • Big Gipp: I Grew Up Mi...
--------
In this clip, Vlad continued speaking to Big Gipp and James Worthy about artists signing bad deals, and he spoke about Quentin Miller signing one of the worst deals, which led to him not getting money for any of the Drake songs he wrote. Vlad stated that Quentin signed the deal with Tricky Stewart, which led to Big Gipp saying, “Damn! That’s why Tricky’s rich!” From there, James spoke about having publishing deals and getting a 70/30 split, which he said is unheard of now. Vlad then brought up the debate about Jermaine Dupri and Diddy being the best producers, and Vlad pointed out that DJ Envy said that 50 Cent would win in an imaginary Verzuz with Lil Wayne. James and Big Gipp then stated that while they love 50 Cent, they think Wayne would win, and Big Gipp added that “50 Cent would need five ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’” albums.
This led to Big Gipp speaking about all of the hits that Lil Wayne has made in his decades in the industry, and he estimates the number of big hits to be around 40. Big Gipp added that the artists with #1 hits include Future, Wayne, and Drake, which continued the debate about 50 Cent having monster hits. Vlad then switched up the debate by saying what would happen in a Verzuz between Eminem and Lil Wayne, which led to Big Gipp calling him “Elvis.” Big Gipp then gave Em respect for coming up by battling known gangsters and then going on to eat anyone he’s ever beefed with, including MGK. When Vlad asked about Eminem vs. Drake, Big Gipp said it would be the biggest battle ever because they’ve done bigger things in hip-hop than anyone else. James then stated that no one else could be in the debate aside from Future, who Big Gipp says learned the importance of going in the studio and never stopping after watching Goodie Mob and Outkast while he was coming up.
From there, Big Gipp spoke about his new project with James, which led to him stating that it’s the first time he’s spoken to women on a record. Vlad went on to speak about Big Gipp speaking over the years about not being super famous, which led to Vlad speaking about Andre 3000 not liking the public attention. Big Gipp explained that when Andre did “Hey Ya!,” it put him in a “Rock ’n Roll hierarchy,” which he compared to being like The Beatles. Speaking about Andre’s life, Big Gipp explained that “he finds comfort in being normal,” and he went on to speak about how fame leads to people leaving the “old” them. This led to Vlad speaking about how much people have to sacrifice to go from millionaire to billionaire, and Vlad explained why he’s always stayed behind the camera. Big Gipp then explained that he never desired to be a solo artist, and he added that with his current projects, he wanted to prove that there’s no age limit on making good music.

"No, not really" But he kept smiling like a clown, facial expression looking silly And he kept asking me, "What kinda car you drive? I know you paid, I know y'all got beaucoup hoes From all them songs that y'all done made" And I replied that I'd been going through the same things that he has True, I've got more fans than the average man But not enough loot to last me to the end of the week I live by the beat like you live check-to-check If it don't move your feet, then, I don't eat, so we like neck-to-neck Yes, we done come a long way like them slim-ass cigarettes From Virginia, this ain't gon' stop, so we just gon' continue

@oscarvillarreal8951
@oscarvillarreal8951 Жыл бұрын
@@courtnie889 deep down Texans gave Outcast their props but the thing was that outcast went to the industry. Back then in Texas if you were independent people respected you more with the Whole SUC movement cause they got it out the Real Mud. J.Prince tried to join the industry but he got in a sense kept out, So Rap-A-Lot even though it was a label for the industry... technically wasn't part of the industry & was in a way Independent from the industry🏢 business . Because they didn't like or respected the Southern rappers or buisness men... as you already have seen with the outcast speech at that time.

Andre influenced Eminem, Drake, Wayne, Kendrick, Tyler, Childish Gambino, JID and so many other artist man. He’s truly an international treasure. I truly use to get irritated when he would go years without dropping any music, but the fact he can make the industry shut down with just his features alone says a lot. I mean look at the last track he was on. He basically did to Kanye on Life Of The Party what he did to TI on Sorry. I hope he finds motivation and inspiration again to create music, but not at the expense of his mental health. That anxiety shit is more common in ppl than we actually realize. I got to meet 3000 in Athens Georgia downtown. He pulled up in a Range Rover. I was like that’s Andre 3000. After we chatted I said to myself he has no security with him. He was here for a football team. He had on the colors, purple and gold.

This whole philosophy works in any genre. Well said! Hip Hop, rock & roll, punk, country, etc. Keeping it real is always the only true ingredient for music with substance. The rest is just corporate card tricks. ✌🏻 A fantastic interview on both sides, questions & answers. What a conversation?!?! Stay well 🥳 ….& thank u 🙏🏻
