**CORRECTION** BIG MIKE was nominated for LyricistOfTheYear but Biggie won, i just watched the award show afew weeks ago cause i havent seen it in full again since back when it was live, yea that tension was thick enough to cut thru with a knife, DeathRow & BadBoy(Biggie) pretty much cleaned house that night, outside of them 2 everybody was disrespected, i feel like NaS iLLmatic album was shitted on the most cause he definitely deserved 1 of those awards they gave to Biggie

@daltonhanleyjr4142 Жыл бұрын
I found that crazy too. Dungeon family will rhyme circles around TIP. Also back then TIP ALL of TIP best material from the first 2 albums was written by David Banner. TIp was a street dude that infiltrated the rap game to get out the streets.

50 was blackballed in NY, cause all the major labels in NY was shook, scared of Supreme, IrvGotti/MurderINC told everybody "Dont fuk with this guy 50, he's bad for business nothin but trouble"...when Em' got 50 mixtape & flew him out to Cali to sign'em to Shady/Aftermath...that was gameOver cause Em' was the biggest hipHop artist in theWorld & he just signed the most hated Artist by everybody else...the rest is history
@darrenraphael Жыл бұрын
Also dont forget the reason 50 cent moved to the South was because the South was supporting him in the 90's when by was blackballing him. Texas, Atlanta and New Orleans were supporting 50 in the 90's. He was doing concerts with cash money and master p's no limit. He even had a sonf with Bun B called As the world turns, which he recorded in 1998. It is the reason Jay Z did Big Pimpin.
@glenbaltimoreii5171 Жыл бұрын
I swear Atlanta and New York artists and executives starting to act the same in regards to their contributions to hip hop and will not let you forget it, also the only thing Atlanta didnt consider marketing (tv, magazines etc), thats why the only ones here to cosign their yesteryears is them
@hottrakz Жыл бұрын
The real home work is the South is popping more because the South covers more ground and more areas business wise New York an East Coast music is a smaller region all of the swag all of the flows all of everything comes from the east but the markets are bigger for the South so if I had a product to sell I would make it more appealing to the biggest market and that's what's happening has nothing to do with the music honestly

I am a 52 year old man from Queens, NY and when I was coming up everybody was outside and one big family. The area I grew up in produced RunDMC, LL Cool J, a Tribe Called Quest, Salt N Peppa, Sweet T, Ed Lova, No Face, BWP, DJ Hurricane, Live Squad, Nashiem Myrick, Harv Pierre, Salaam Remi, The Lost Boyz, 50 Cent etc. A lot of the separation came when the street ish leaked into the game and the gang culture leaked into the game. We all hung out, there was no security and no one got hurt because we all looked out for each other. The NYC that I am hearing being talked about is unfamiliar to me.

Typical NY. She's been trying to be defensive as if the South hasn't been running rap. She couldn't hear a Southern Drawl in 50. Let's not forget JZ's beats changed when the South got on. Cash Money,LaFace, RappAlot. I could name many others. NY labels started scrambling for Southern artists. (Luda,Jeezy, Ross etc....) When NY ran the game they wouldnt let anyone in Now she's complaining its NY vs several places. It's all the places they weren't letting in going back to Luke Skywalker.
