I am a big guy as well and wanted ultralight gear. I hate mummy bags for sure! The first comfortable and affordable bag I use was the Kelty Cosmic rectangle shaped bag. I liked this as I could also unzip and use as q quilt as well. After I saved up some money, I purchased a quilt type bag from a company called UGQ (Underground Quilts) where you can customize your bag/quilt for what you want but it will cost you. So that and the fact I sleep with a base layer or sweats on is perfect on a cold night. I use Therm-A-Rest sleeping pad which is a little thicker than most but keeps me off the ground and keeps me warm as well. I am glad to see there are folks out there like me try to make it happen! Good video!

I have this bag and think it's great. Used in the UK where I am guessing our temps are lower than yours. I have camped with a bivy down to around 5 degrees (c) and it was fine. This thing packs down so small.

Finally a guy i can relate to! this was a brilliant review. Got a pretty sizable bag myself, i managed to fit it inside of my bag because i carry my tent on the outside, but this sleeping bag seems intresting to say the least. I tried staying out in a much smaller bag but it was just not great for my night rest and i choose to get a seriously massive bag, and that helped alot. But i may well look into this one now that you have reviewed it, Thank! Keep making the great vids, you got yourself a new sub from me!

thank you enjoyed this and found it helpful. just as a tip for your slumberjack bag for when it gets colder and you want to bring that...if you stuff it into a drybag you can compress it a lot more. I have seen this done to tents and reduced the original size to nearly half :) stay safe :)

I am a big guy I recently had the 300 club and I'm looking to hike the Appalachian Trail to lose weight. And size. I am interested in all the year that you have because I know I will not be an ultra-light hiker because I have to carry clothes and other items that make me non light. So the thought of ever becoming a ultralight camper kind of defeats the purpose but I would like to have things that are comfortable to me since I am a big gentleman

I'm trying to limit space for camping with a family of 5 but I'm a big lady so I'm trying to find a warm weather bag that is really compressible. With this work for someone who gets hot at night in 50-70°f nights?
@FDOutdoors2 жыл бұрын
I think so but the most important factor is having insulation under you. Because then you can just use this as a blanket if you need to. In general sleeping bags don’t offer any under body insulation anyways once the filling is compressed.
@nicolereadstarot2 жыл бұрын
@@FDOutdoors I have a king air bed for myself and the two toddlers, I put a fuzzy blanket on it, then a fitted sheet then another thin blanket all under us. Would use as a top quilt would probably be more comfortable plus if you’re inside it, you’re compressing ventilation underneath you. so it’s not doing much.

First of all, the seller (Offical) send the product with multiple damages, there was no customer care at all, as the product was damaged, I went to check the Down Fill quality, it's extremely bad, most of them is a poor and thin synthetic material, AegisMax uses fake filling...
