About the lack of coffee, I’ve been in the military for 10 years. About 1/4 of my unit likes coffee, and 1/2 likes energy drinks (some overlap between them.) The other 1/2 either likes nicotine in various forms or just sugary drinks. Over the last 2 deployments even less than 1/4 actually enjoyed MRE’s. Most of us packed energy drinks, preworkout, or nicotine to last us the whole trip. It’s an interesting dichotomy.

I will agree, while it was always watery and nearly tasteless, the coffee was somehow a tiny boost of energy, morale, and is an MRE staple. Getting rid of it honestly makes my heart sink, and cheese tortellini is my personal favorite :(
