I added the deepwoods 2.2, hobbywing 880, flysky gt5, x2 dynamite 37T Motors, x2 25kg Amazon servos, 8mm hex extensions, some automobile wheel weights to the front, the links from the Everest 10, and a 5200mah 7.4v battery. Let me tell you, it's about $300 worth of a truck that out performs my $1200 scale Trx4 by far!

So the Everest 10 links do work? I wish their site would state that.
@charlesboyd44693 жыл бұрын
Pen springs in those shocks really stabilized that suspension on mine. With all that travel it can seem unmanageable. The pen springs still allowed a ton of articulation but controlled it so much better. Also, I made some high clearance lower links from all-thread, brake line tube, and new rod ends. That really upped the crawling game by sliding over obstacles much easier. Both mods are super budget and fit the budget build theme.

The Tekin HD brushed motors have really strong magnets, they work great with strong drag brakes. Mine lasted a very long time before I sold it

We have been using redcat volcano knuckles and cups along with 2mm spacers for the top and bottom screw, along with Traxxas shoulder screws (3642x) then you'll need to make up steering linkage. If you have any high clearance links laying around swap them with the plastic ones. You can also remove material from the axel housing to get allot more throw/angle.

Enjoying this series. It's even more capable when lowered with longer links and shorter springs, soft 2.2 tires. Shameless plug, there's a playlist of mine on my channel. Keep up the great work!

@@ExocagedRC First, thanks for the hard work on your channel! I do run the stock axles on 3s sometimes, but mostly 2s without ever ripping the throttle, so far they've held up. The FB group folks keep asking Redcat for metal gears and other upgrades, so far without luck. It's just not a high wheel speed rig I guess, but still a great intro to the hobby. The clod stall is a big issue, some of the FB group members are running dual ECSs to overcome it iirc. (I checked back and you put 1080 X2 so I guess the stall isn't from the esc and from the motor as you mentioned) Looking forward to where you take it next, everest 10 high clearance links and shorter shocks please!

For the price they're awesome. I'd put a 3 gear trans with scx10.2 axles in it. Then get an Amazon dig unit. Keep the 1080 and get a Holmes crawl master.

When you ask about the U-Joint upgrade, assuming this thing has dog-bone/drive-cup system? I modified a similar MOA vehicle by using Traxxas part #7151 U-joint drive shafts, and it worked great, although it required a lot of modding/cutting/grinding/set-screws and custom-3D printed steering knuckles to work. Appreciate all of your vids!!!

Yeah this has rather weak looking dogbones. The outer axle part is plastic where the dogbone pin runs.

Looks like the suspension is unloading too much for some of the climb’s maybe if you cut the articulation down would really help this also I have seen people using the E10 lower links and seams to work for the break over. I’m really liking your build I just picked one up for my son’s Christmas present and watching your build this thing has some potential.

Just run your 2.2 Trenchers off Thor already! Why are you not taking this advice from everyone!? Lol And higher clearance lower links will help too. That was a great run, the weight down low helped for sure. Keep or increase that weight AND 2.2s and you’ll see big improvements. Given your careful and sympathetic crawling style, you won’t break the gears…
@ExocagedRC3 жыл бұрын
Man I just don’t know the axles can handle those tires.

@@ExocagedRC my 4 year old son has been abusing the hell outta his with 3 different sets of 2.2s with lots of weight for a year now with no axle gear problems. Sure, he’s broken other parts by driving directly off cliff faces, but nothing broken in the drivetrain…. Just do it, you’ll be fine!
