I have a bit of a goal. To get a legal Whiting on a topwater on like a Bassday Sugapen or a Daiwa Slipery Dog, wading the flats. Reckon I’ll get one this Summer? Making those sort of goals happen what it’s all about right?😮

Hey mate, I always thought I had to get my lure under the pontoons but I notice you just get it close to them, within a metre or so, will the jacks come out from under to hit it? Also should my soft plàtic be hitting the bottom of the water? It's hard to tell when everyone in videos appears to be just ripping it back in soon as the lure lands in the water. I've had alot of donut days so trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong

Generally, within 30cm / 1 foot is best option, The further away the less your chance. Depth wise as long as its below the bottom of the pontoon it doesnt matter much. Try not to over think it, you have to spend the time til it all comes together and gets alot easier

@@alexw4408 ah rito, yeah it’s hard to get the balance of still getting the bites and not being out gunned. I refused to pay that much for lures so I made my own and have caught far more meter plus fish than I ever did so if I lose a lure I just make more. You could make those lures yourself for a couple of dollars a hit, it’s worth it when you get them figured out and way more rewarding catching them on something you’ve made.

@@alexw4408 haha yeah fair enough, I made my first couple out of balsa from Bunnings and flatten sinkers for weight, painted it with colour bond touch up and done, smacked a 93cm and got busted off by a metery, I was hooked after that. It’s really not as hard as you’d think.

What rod length u fishing with Alex? And what braid a leader you running? Do u find when they are a bit quiet u fish a bit lighter or not a good idea when chasing jacks?

Hey Rod. This was 60lb fc 100. In my opinion, they will see hooks before leader. Leader affects the action of a lure to a degree. I just run 30-60lb depending on where i am really
