No day dreaming across those bridges, and cattle don't appear to be any smarter there than here in the US. Great video, love the scenery on your travels and always look forward to more videos. Thank you for your time and efforts in posting them!

That´s a dream. A dream for us here in central europe where you´ve all days traffic jam and crazy drivers. Today 20 km traffic jam there and 18 km there....No fun to drive. Okay for you it´s hard work but I love what I see, a great wide land! And one day I´ll see your country. Cheers from germany

NorgeChris We have some big traffic jams in our cities but most of the time I am out in the country or the outback. On many outback roads you will not see a single vehicle all night and only a handful during the day, like the road in the video.

It is only the skill of Aussie truck drivers that keep them safe and upright on our roads here in Australia. Governments from both sides of our basically two party system spends Bugger All on Outback roads in particular and not much more on our highways although I must admit the Bruce Hwy has been getting some well overdue improvements the last couple of years.I have seen car drivers do some ridiculous things in front of trucks yet somehow it is the truck drivers who get the bad press. Sure there are some cowboys in the trucking game but most are just hard working Guys who need a fair go from Governments to help reduce astronomical costs and 9 times out of 10 they get Sweet Bugger All.Stay safe out there GM we need Guys like you. Cheers, Denis. ( Townsville area )

I have covered the section Winton to Boulia may times back in the early 80's, I drove for Skennars Coaches and was based at Longreach, I used to do the run to Mt Isa via Winton, Middleton, Boulia, Dajarra then to the Isa, the livestock used to be a headache.

That's why you truckies have those big bars over the radiator. We have a similar problem here (California US) with deer. They get blinded by the headlights and then just stand in the road. By laying on the air horn with lots of short blasts you can get them to move. Ive run over two in my 25 years of trucking. Its messy and the underside of the truck stinks for months if you hit one during the dry season.

@gm16v149 10 жыл бұрын
We get a lot of roos at night. Usually if you blow on the horn or turn off your headlights they will move, but I ran over four in one hour on that trip in the early hours, they were in plague proportions.

Question for you: what rates do drivers and lease/owner operators get driving road trains in Australia? I’m curious to know how the pay compares to hauling Super B in Canada and heavy haul in Canada and the US. Also, what sort of regulations do you have for your hours of service (driving and work/rest time)?
@gm16v149
@gm16v149 6 жыл бұрын
Reading various forums I think we get more money than Canada or USA but our costs are higher. You can drive/work from 12 to 16 hours a day depending which State you are in and what fatigue management scheme you use.

Doesn't Australia have a rail system ? So inefficient with trucks I would imagine
@gm16v149
@gm16v149 8 жыл бұрын
We get asked that by so many Americans, so I've copied and pasted this from another website: "Road trains operate in remote areas of Australia where it isn't feasible or cost effective to build railways. You wouldn't build a railway over vast distances to service a tiny town or mine. This isn't the USA with it's huge population. Our land mass is approximately the same area as mainland USA with less than 10% of its population, and the vast majority live within 100 kms of the ocean, and of that, the majority live on the East Coast. Large three and four trailer roadtrains don't go anywhere near the East Coast, and most Australians have never seen one. The populated areas are well serviced by rail, and there is heavy rail connecting big mines to ports".
