I would probably get one of those dish drainers that is a frame you sit over the sink, as there is such limited counter space for prepping anything. I would also put a metal cover over the stove to make it usable for prepping as well. (This is me as a person who loves to cook; obviously not a priority for many people.) I do appreciate the little cart on wheels that can be moved into the kitchen space when needed. I would probably be storing my crockpot(s) and juicer on a shelf just to the right of the the fridge, and move the couch down a bit. And yes, the fridge doors would be less practical for use when actually cooking in the kitchen. Given the limited storage for the ingredients one would cook with, I"m guessing that the New Yorkers who DO cook go shopping right before they will cook and don't store ingredients in the fridge for long.

As a Singular, you really don't need more than this--after all, it's what you come home to after being out in the fabulous NYC world. You have done such a great job bringing out the best. And managing your overhead is the key to happiness in our town.

I have a apartment in Colorado with limited storage so I have a bed frame that is 16 inches high. Those blue totes and a footlocker slide under the bed. Plus it makes it easier to get in and out of bed with the height. Rachael uses the available space very well. Great Job.

Cute apartment, though I have a lot of trouble believing it's as small as she claims. I'd hazard a guess and say it's closer to 400. That room with the couch and bed looks about the full size of the 250 sq ft apt I had in Japan (where I had basically no furniture lol so it's not a matter of organization)

The apartment's not much wider than the length of the bed. I'd believe it's about 12' x20' = 240 Sq ft. A lot of NYC apartments are converted hotel rooms. This might be one.

I would have put in roll out shelves in the deeper cabinets. It really helps utilize the space and makes the items more accessible. The mold in the tub area would have me scrubbing the grout on the walls and recaulking the line at the tub.

What are roll out shelves please?
@tastx3142 Жыл бұрын
@@nicolab2075 Roll out or pull out shelves are installed inside a cabinet much like built in drawers but don’t have high sides. They have drawer slides that are screwed to the inside of the cabinet and the shelves are made of metal or wood. They can be custom made to size or can be found in all kinds of sizes. We were tired of lugging heavy pots from the lower cabinet and liked them so much, we did the rest. Everything is easily accessible now. Mine were installed with 4 screws and simple to install. Mine extend completely and are rated to hold 100 pounds. It can be built that way instead of fixed shelves. I have a lot of built in deep cabinets in our bathrooms and installed baskets on runners so things are accessible. No more emptying cabinets to get something that is in the back. They do make lightweight plastic units that are freestanding and just are set inside the cabinets and usually have bins instead of shelves. It just really depends on what you need to store.

Calling it studio+ is copium. It might be a nice tiny studio. But the average studio square footage is 500 sq. ft. Calling this + is just nonsense. It's half the size of most studio apartments.
@edennis8578 Жыл бұрын
@@Danny-gs5dvNot where I live. This is big for a studio. I've had friends who lived in studio apartments that were under 150 square feet (small town in Iowa, not a big city). When I visited a coworker at her studio apartment, it was 400 square feet and it looked huge compared to the other ones. And try married student apartments at the university; those places are minute and bare bones. This is luxurious by comparison.

So many ppl with tiny spaces don’t know how to utilize all the space above. All those kitchen cabinets can have added cabinets above it for extra storage. The height is there. Same thing with bed. She could turn the bed towards the kitchen, and make a higher base for more storage. It would only take about 6” away from the bottom of the window, but would create less clutter of items she doesn’t need sitting around. The nightstand is useless anyway. She could have a hanging lamp or sconce instead nearby. A little wall shelf there would be enough for her phone or drink.

Great video, Cash: Her apartment is very cute and I like the size of this apartment. I myself am planning on downsizing, next year and moving to the south into a rural area near a city. I plan on acquiring a half container and turning it into a tiny home for my two cats and myself. The container, build, including the land, water hookups and sewer will cost about maybe twenty thousand for everything. The way that I cut my expense is to be able to cook, at home. Including pick a cheapy restaurant as a once a month treat and save everything that I can. I tend to set a limit on my internet and can use this for movie nights, instead of going to a show. I tend not to burn gas, nor put unnecessary wear and tear on my vehicles.-happy trails😀
